I am a B.Tech fresher, and I recently had the opportunity to interview for the Consultant role at EY GDS. Here’s a detailed breakdown of my recruitment process to help fellow aspirants prepare effectively.

Recruitment Process Rounds

1. Online Assessment

The first stage was an online test, which included:

  • Aptitude Section: Questions on logical reasoning, quantitative aptitude, and verbal ability.
  • Coding Section: A single coding problem of easy difficulty. Candidates were given 45 minutes to solve it.

Preparation Tip: Practice aptitude questions using YouTube resources and solve coding problems on platforms like GeeksforGeeks and LeetCode.

2. Verbal Ability Test

This online round assessed listening and speaking skills, focusing on verbal communication.

3. Technical Interview

The technical round was an in-depth assessment of my:

  • Core Technical Concepts: Focus on Object-Oriented Programming (OOPs), its real-life applications, and core principles. Since my preferred language is Java, many Java-specific questions were asked, which aligned with the interviewer’s expertise.
  • Project Discussion: Questions about my academic projects, their implementation, and challenges faced.
  • Database Concepts: Topics like Joins, Normalization, and one SQL query.
  • Coding: Two coding questions related to HashMap and HashSet.

4. HR Interview

The HR round was conversational and relatively easy. Topics included:

  • Personal Background: Family details and reasons for choosing Java as my primary programming language.
  • Technological Trends: Questions on upcoming technologies.
  • Role Understanding: Differences between the work of a Developer and a Consultant.
  • Puzzle Question: A simple problem-solving question to gauge analytical thinking.

Result

Out of 120 students interviewed from my college, 22 were selected, and I am thrilled to be among them.
