In this post, I’ll share my interview experience with GE Healthcare during their visit to our campus, SVNIT Surat, in August 2024, for hiring 2-month interns under the Tech Intern role in the EEDP Program.
Eligibility Criteria
- CGPA Requirement: Students with a CGPA greater than 7 were eligible.
- Eligible Branches: CSE, ECE, and Electrical.
Online Assessment
The first round was an Online Assessment that tested coding and aptitude skills. The test lasted for 2 hours and included questions on:
- Coding
- English
- Logical Reasoning
- Aptitude
Coding Questions
The coding questions were unique for each student. Here’s what I faced:
248 Number Problem:
- A number is considered valid if digits 2, 4, and 8 occur in it with equal nonzero frequencies. For example:
- Valid: 248, 284824, 2148
Invalid: 3456 (unequal frequencies), 356 (zero frequencies)
The task was to count valid numbers in the range [1, n], where 1 ≤ n ≤ 10¹⁰.
Pencils Problem:
- Given an array where each number represents the length of a pencil, determine the minimum height remaining after performing the operation:
- 1 operation - Cut a pencil to any length.
The 248 Number question was partially solved, while the Pencils question was fully solved.
Some of my peers encountered different problems, such as:
- Zig-Zag Traversal of a Binary Tree
- Euler Cycle in a Graph
Technical Interview (30 Minutes)
The Technical Interview began with a brief introduction. The interviewer was friendly and created a comfortable environment. Here’s what followed:
Questions on Programming
The interviewer asked about my proficiency in programming languages. Since I mentioned C++, most questions revolved around Object-Oriented Programming (OOPS):
Copy Constructor:
- Explanation and a real-life example.
Virtual Function & Function Overriding:
- Definition and usage in development.
Project Discussion
The interviewer asked about my web development projects and work on the MERN stack. Additionally, they inquired about my participation in the Amazon ML Summer School and posed a simple question:
"Gemini/ChatGPT uses which type of Machine Learning?"
Verdict: Cleared for the HR Round.
HR Round
The HR Round focused on general and behavioral questions:
- Competitors of GE Healthcare
- Willingness to relocate
- Familiarity with GE Healthcare products
Verdict: Rejected.
Despite clearing the technical round, I wasn’t selected in the HR round. However, the experience was enriching and offered valuable insights.
Tips for Future Aspirants
