Globallogic - Hitachi Interview Experience (On-Campus)

Last Updated : 3 Sep, 2024

The GlobalLogic Hitachi on-campus hiring process began with an online registration through my college’s portal. Once registered, the first round was scheduled for 21st August 2024. This round was an online test that lasted for 124 minutes. The test was comprehensive, covering various aspects:

30 questions on computer fundamentals: These questions tested our understanding of core subjects like Operating Systems, Networks, Data Structures, and Algorithms.

10 aptitude questions: These questions evaluated our logical reasoning, mathematical skills, and problem-solving abilities.

Email writing task: This tested our communication skills, particularly how well we could convey information in a professional format.

2 coding questions: The coding problems were of medium difficulty. The first question revolved around XOR operations, which required a good understanding of bitwise operations. The second question involved a sliding window problem, testing our ability to handle and optimize window-based data processing.

Out of the 356 students who took the test, only 40 were shortlisted for the next round. This initial filtering was rigorous, ensuring that only candidates with strong foundational knowledge and problem-solving ability moved forward.

Round 2: Technical Interview

The second round was a technical interview, held virtually on 29th August 2024. The interview lasted around 30-40 minutes and began with a warm greeting from the interviewer, setting a comfortable tone for the conversation.

The questions asked were focused on core technical concepts, including:

Object-Oriented Programming (OOP): I was asked to explain the 4 pillars of OOP—encapsulation, inheritance, polymorphism, and abstraction.

Data Structures: The interviewer inquired about trees and graphs, asking me to explain their structure and differences.

Coding tasks: I was given a few coding challenges during the interview, including:

Writing a code to reverse a linked list.

Writing a code to find the occurrence of the character 'a' in my name.

Writing a code to swap two numbers without using a third variable.

Database Management Systems (DBMS): I was asked about the basics of DBMS, along with different DBMS commands.

This round was crucial as it tested not only my knowledge but also my ability to apply concepts in real-time. Out of the 40 students interviewed, 30 managed to clear this technical round.

Round 3: Managerial Interview

The third round was a managerial interview, which was held shortly after the technical round. This interview lasted about 30 minutes and was more in-depth compared to the previous rounds. The interviewer started by discussing my project work, delving into the technical stack I used, the challenges I faced, and how I overcame them.

The questions in this round included:

Database-related queries: I was asked to differentiate between DDL (Data Definition Language), DML (Data Manipulation Language), and DCL (Data Control Language). Additionally, I was asked to write a SQL query to find the name and salary of employees born before 1991.

OOP Concepts: There were further discussions on OOP concepts, specifically the difference between abstraction and polymorphism, and how these concepts are applied in real-world scenarios.

Inheritance: The interviewer probed into inheritance, asking for examples and its applications.

This round was designed to assess my problem-solving approach, project management skills, and how well I could handle technical challenges in a managerial context. Clearing this round was a significant milestone, as it led me to the final HR interview.

Round 4: HR Interview

The final round was the HR interview, which primarily focused on my personality, communication skills, and cultural fit within the company. The questions were more general, aiming to understand my motivations, strengths, weaknesses, and how I handle various situations.

Questions like “Why do you want to join GlobalLogic?”, “Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?”, and “Describe a challenging situation you’ve faced and how you handled it” were asked.

The HR round was more relaxed compared to the technical and managerial rounds but equally important as it determined whether I would fit well with the company’s culture.

Out of the 40 students who reached the HR round, 24 were finally selected to join GlobalLogic Hitachi. I am thrilled to share that I was one of the selected candidates. This entire process was a challenging yet rewarding experience, and I’m excited to start my journey with GlobalLogic.
