Mindtickle Interview Experience | SDE Intern (Backend)

Position : SDE Intern

Round 1: Online Assessment

3 DSA Questions (probably all of similar difficulty as of leetcode mediums) + 5 MCQs (1 hr 30 mins)

Topics : Hashing, Binary Trees, Dynamic Programming

I finished in about 60-65 minutes.

Round 2: Interview Vector : Problem Solving round (60 minutes)

The round started with the interviewer giving his introduction and then asked me to introduce myself. Then we had a few discussions and questions on my resume for about 15 minutes.

It was followed by two dsa problems.

A stack based problem involving the concept of next greater/smaller element.

Gave the brute force and optimized approach . Then discussed the time and space complexities.

A BFS problem on matrix.

Discussed and directly wrote the code for the optimized approach. Discussed the time and space complexities.

Round 3: First Technical Discussion : (60 minutes)

The round started with exchange of introductions. The interviewer was a SDE-3 in the organization. It was followed by 20-25 minutes of discussion and cross questions on my projects and I was also asked to design a rough sketch if schemas in mySQL given a scenario.

It was followed by a DSA problem involving greedy algorithm and priority queues.

Discussed the approach with dry run and then had to code it. Discussed the time and space complexities.

A follow up task of implementing a min heap from scratch was asked which I did. Few questions regarding that.

Round 4: Hiring Manager round. (45 minutes)

A brief exchange of introductions. It was followed by a bried demo about one of my hosted projects. Then he deep dived into the project with some cross questions. He gave situations and asked how would I remodel my project according to those. These were followed by some situational questions and I was asked how would I react to them.

Then i was asked to give a brief approach of how would I design Google news. Few follow ups were given and I was asked to tell my opinions. Then the interviewer gave an idea of what the company does and what teams could I expect.

Round 5: HR Round (30 minutes + Offer discussion)

It lasted for about 30 minutes. I was asked what I knew about the comapny. Also its values and recent achievements. These were followed by few behavioral questions.

She told me that I was selected and finally laid out the offer and date of joining and other details.

Verdict: Selected
