Round 1: Initial Screening
In the initial screening interview, they ask about my skills and experiences.

- Method: Phone interview
- Focus: Background check and preliminary skill assessment
Questions Asked:
- Can you walk me through your professional background and experience in data analysis?
- What attracted you to our company and this particular role?
- Are you proficient with SQL and Python for data manipulation?
Obstacles:
There was a slight delay due to time zone differences, but it was resolved quickly.
Round 2: Technical
- Duration: 1 hour
- Method: Video interview via Zoom
- Focus: Technical skills assessment with real-time problem-solving tasks
Questions Asked:
- Provided a dataset and asked to perform exploratory data analysis live.
- How would you handle missing values in a dataset?
- Explain the difference between supervised and unsupervised learning.
- Write an SQL query to join two tables and filter the results based on certain conditions.
Obstacles:
Experienced a momentary lapse when recalling the specifics of certain machine learning algorithms but managed to recover by explaining the general concepts.
Round 3: Managerial
- Duration: 45 minutes
- Method: Video interview
- Focus: Behavioral assessment and cultural fit
Question Asked:
- Describe a challenging project you handled and how you overcame obstacles?
- How do you prioritize tasks when working under tight deadlines?
- Have you ever had to present complex data findings to non-technical stakeholders? How did you ensure they understood?
Obstacles:
None significant; felt comfortable discussing past experiences.
Round 4: HR
- Duration: 30 minutes
- Method: Phone interview
- Focus: Compensation expectations, benefits discussion, and onboarding process
Questions Asked:
- What are your salary expectations for this role?
- Are you willing to relocate or do you prefer remote work?
- Do you have any pending offers or timelines we should be aware of?
Obstacles:
Navigating the salary expectation question without disclosing my previous salary required careful phrasing.
Additional Information
I was informed that the decision-making process would take about two weeks due to the high number of applicants. They assured me they would keep me updated on any developments.
They offered to connect me with a potential team member to answer any further questions I might have about the day-to-day responsibilities.
Final Outcome
Overall, the interview process with Morgan Stanley was thorough and positive. I appreciated the professionalism and transparency displayed by everyone I interacted with.
