SRM AP Interview Experience for M.Tech

Last Updated : 21 Jun, 2024

Application Process

The application process was smooth and completely online, via the SRM AP portal. I submitted my personal details, academic percentages, passport-size photo, and digital signature image.

Preparation for the Zoom Meeting

Three days before the interview, I received a link to a Zoom meeting via email. The email was sent to the same address I used during my application. A clear schedule stating my interview time was detailed in the email.

Waiting Period

I entered the Zoom meeting an hour in advance to ensure everything set up correctly, so I didn't encounter any technical problems at the last minute. Now, during this waiting time, I recall the topics prepared for the interview.

Technical Interview

The interview panel congratulated me on the initiation of the interview and started the discussion with a few icebreaker-type questions:

Tell me a little about yourself.

Why would you want to join the Program in IoT and Embedded Systems?

Describe briefly what do you know about IoT and about Embedded Systems.

I gave my background stating my interest in the field of IoT and embedded systems and also my vision about the future.

Discussion on Favourite Subject

They then asked me about my favourite subject taken during the B.Tech course. I answered Microprocessors, Microcontrollers, and Digital Electronics as my favourite subjects since I did my B.Tech in ECE.

Specific Questions on Microprocessors and Microcontrollers

The panel concentrated on microprocessors and microcontrollers, and mainly on the 8085 microprocessor and the 8051 microcontroller. Following are the questions they asked:

How many address lines does an 8085 microprocessor have?

How many data buses does an 8085 microprocessor have?

What are the data pins?

What is the purpose of TRAP interrupt?

Digital Electronics Questions

Also they have gone through Digital Electronics and the questions posed checked my fundamental knowledge on these:

What is a flip-flop? Distinguish between flip flops and latches.

Explain the basic logic gates.

What is an XOR gate?

Why is a full adder used for?

Which gate is also known as an inverter?

Most of the questions asked by the interviewers were based on my favorite subjects in undergraduate studies and helped me prove my depth in the subject.

HR Interview

The HR interview was short. They mainly tested my personality, why I/im, and why this program in SRM AP will suit me. Some of the questions are

Tell us a little about yourself and why M.Tech. In SRM AP.

What are your long-term goals regarding your career?

How does one intend to give back to the university community?

Conclusion

A week after the interview, the acceptance mail from SRM AP arrived for admission into the M.Tech IoT and Embedded Systems program. The interview was well-organized and definitely organized with proper scrutiny. The technical interviewers are definitely of a high knowledge base and professionally sound; hence, it gets intellectually stimulating. Now, I'm really excited to begin this journey in SRM University AP, and I look forward to good learning and opportunities.

Note: There is only one interview for Technical and HR type questions were asked in that
