I recently had the opportunity to interview with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). Here’s a comprehensive breakdown of my experience, covering all the stages and key interactions.
Introduction Round
The interview panel consisted of three members: the HR, Technical Round (TR) representative, and Managerial Round (MR) representative. The session began with an introduction where I was asked to share details about myself.
Technical Round
The Technical Round began with a pen-and-paper coding assessment. I was presented with three programming problems:
- Multiply two matrices
- Print the nth prime number
- Reverse a string
I was required to write the logic for each problem.
Following this, the TR asked me a SQL-related question. Using two tables, I was tasked with identifying the emp_id of employees who have the same salary. I solved this by applying SQL query concepts.
Next, I faced a question related to HTML. The task was to create a simple HTML form for a voter ID card. The form needed to accept the user's name and age as input, with the condition that the age should be greater than 18; otherwise, the input would be rejected. I explained my approach and wrote the HTML code to satisfy these requirements.
HR Round
The HR Round was a mix of professional and general questions. The key questions were:
- Why do you want to join TCS?
I explained my enthusiasm for working with a reputed organization like TCS, aligning with my career aspirations. - Tell me about your internship.
I shared details about my contributions during the internship, the projects I worked on, and the skills I gained. - What are three qualities that make you a good fit for this job?
I highlighted my problem-solving skills, adaptability, and strong work ethic. - Who is the CEO of TCS?
I correctly answered K. Krithivasan. - How many employees work at TCS?
I mentioned that TCS has over 200,000 employees, though I wasn’t sure of the exact number.
Managerial Round
The Managerial Round focused more on understanding me as a person. The manager reviewed my resume and asked about my schooling and academic background. Unlike the previous rounds, this session didn’t involve many technical questions, instead emphasizing my personality and communication skills.
Overall Experience
The TCS interview process was comprehensive, testing both my technical knowledge and interpersonal abilities. Each round was unique, providing valuable insights into the expectations and work culture at TCS. It was a highly enriching experience, and I learned a great deal from it.
