Partner Eric Lumsden gives his verdict on LawWare.
Sneddon Morrison Solicitors and Estate Agents are based in Whitburn, West Lothian. The firm consists of 6 branches, 7 partners and over 20 staff. They handle a variety of legal work including: property, conveyancing, wills and executries, employment law, family law and power of attorney.
In a short interview with Eric Lumsden we asked him about his LawWare experience.
What made you start looking for a solution?
“Quite simply, we’d got to a point where we recognised that our ability to access information was not good enough for a modern-day law firm and there were some glaring inefficiencies which we needed to do something about.”
How did you find out about LawWare?
“No-one recommended LawWare to us. We followed the traditional route of organising a “beauty parade” of suitable software suppliers.”
Which other products did you look at?
“We had demonstrations from two other leading suppliers to the Scottish market in addition to LawWare.”
Why did you choose LawWare?
“After talking to LawWare’s Simon Greig, we had a good feeling about the software itself, the company and the value for money which we felt it provides. Above all, it was the ease of use that impressed. Even the most discerning and difficult to please of users, our cashier, warmed to the product very quickly.”
How has using LawWare been so far?
“We have now been using LawWare for many, many years. That speaks for itself. And, when it comes to regulatory or economic changes that affect the way we work, LawWare is very quick to update and enhance the software to meet those specific needs.”
Tell us about your experiences and what you’ve achieved with it?
“We estimate we have achieved an efficiency improvement of around 20% when handling case work. This resulted in the non-replacement of 3 support staff who left or retired. Automatic time recording activities on all company client work and private client work for our family law and trust and executry work also increased fee income by around 15% a year. The system easily paid for itself within the first 12-18 months.”
How has our product benefitted you and your team?
“If I could pick one particular item, it would be the single button simplicity with which I can get a cash account. By comparison with what went before to achieve that… well, there is no comparison. In the recent very challenging times, the real strength of the product has been the ability to access it from just about anywhere. Safe home working and remote working have really taken off for us and, longer term, that means yet more savings on overheads and office space.”
Would you recommend LawWare and, if so, why?
“In a heartbeat. LawWare look after you. Their support team is always there promptly with the personal touch when you need them. It’s like having an extra few members of your own team.”
