🌩️ Google Cloud & the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration are Advancing Weather Forecasting The NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) selected Google Cloud as its primary high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure provider for the Weather and Climate Operational Supercomputing System (WCOSS). We’ve worked with NOAA for years to track wildfires and advance marine conservation efforts, so we’re excited to continue our partnership. How we’re modernizing the skies together: - HPC Compute on Demand: NOAA will run atmospheric simulations utilizing Google Cloud’s H4D Virtual Machines (powered by fifth-generation AMD EPYC™ processors), delivering the low-latency networking required to execute meteorology or research simulations - Advancing AI Forecasting: Recently, NOAA utilized Google DeepMind and Google Research’s WeatherNext model to predict Hurricane Melissa's Category 5 landfall five days in advance to enable early, life-saving evacuations. By expanding our collaboration, NOAA will be able to focus on improving forecast accuracy, making positive impacts to public safety, and ensuring that the U.S. remains at the forefront of global weather modeling - Agentic AI on the Horizon: These early pilot programs have successfully laid the groundwork for divisions like NOAA Fisheries to explore agentic AI applications powered by Gemini for Government (our AI platform for U.S. government use) We’re excited to embark on this journey with NOAA, and to redefine how we understand and predict patterns in the atmosphere that affect the weather we face every day. Follow Google Public Sector to stay up to date on all of the innovations and news coming out of our public sector work!

What do 24/7 cow collars, weather patterns, and AI agents have in common? More than you’d think! 🐄🤖 Meet Paul Windemuller, Founder and CEO of Dream Winds Dairy. Like many business owners, Paul has to sort through a lot of diverse data to ensure his farm is operating in the most efficient, productive way possible. So, he decided to automate some of his work using Gemini 3.6 Flash. Paul and his team built an agentic system that transforms farming data into actionable, real-time insights. Here are some examples of how it works: - Agent 1: Ingests continuous 24/7 data from cow collars, feed intake, local weather, and milk quality metrics. - Agent 2: Performs complex calculations off of their large, multi-modal datasets. - The UI: Populates a clean, daily dashboard of key metrics so the team always has their finger on the pulse of the farm. The result is helpful automation of what was a taxing administrative workload. Paul now has the information he needs to manage the farm, freeing up his time to focus on what matters on the ground. As Paul puts it, “I thought, there's no way it can really be that good yet. And I was proven wrong." We love stories like Paul’s — if you have an anecdote about how AI agents made a difference in your life or work, share it in the comments below!

As AI models are now finding vulnerabilities faster than we can fix them, our approach to securing software must be built on highly efficient and capable models. Which brings us to our third (!) model launch of the day: Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber. Within CodeMender (our AI agent for code security), which uses multiple 3.5 Flash Cyber agents working together to produce a single combined report, 3.5 Flash Cyber reaches competitive performance at the frontier on the popular benchmark CyberGym. The model is also optimized for finding and fixing cybersecurity vulnerabilities at scale at a lower cost. Given the dual-use nature of this technology, we have taken an intentional approach to its deployment. The model will be available exclusively to governments and trusted partners via CodeMender soon as part of a limited-access pilot program.
