New NCI funding opportunity to support research in cancer epidemiology cohort studies on cancer etiology and survivorship. Applications should: • address scientific gaps • include hypothesis-driven research • support cohort recruitment, retention, and follow-up, as appropriate • and describe how data and biospecimen resources will be shared View the opportunity at https://lnkd.in/eBQw-Mn7. #CancerEpidemiology #NIHgrants

Advancing science to improve public health
About us
As NCI’s bridge to public health research, practice, and policy, the Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences (DCCPS) plays a unique role in reducing the burden of cancer in America. DCCPS has the lead responsibility at NCI for supporting research in surveillance, epidemiology, health services, behavioral science, and cancer survivorship. The division also plays a central role within the federal government as a source of expertise and evidence on issues such as the quality of cancer care, the economic burden of cancer, geographic information systems, statistical methods, communication science, comparative effectiveness research, obesity, tobacco control, and the translation of research into practice. 🎉30 years of the Office of Cancer Survivorship🎉—and the work continues. Established in 1996, the Office of Cancer Survivorship (OCS) helped define survivorship as a distinct and essential area of cancer research. Over three decades, the office’s role has expanded, strengthening coordination across the National Cancer Institute and advancing research focused on the long term and late effects of cancer and its treatment. Click through to explore key milestones and how OCS has supported survivorship focused research, informed scientific priorities, and fostered collaboration across disciplines—made possible by the contributions of cancer survivors, caregivers, advocates, clinicians, and researchers. You can also learn more at survivorship.cancer.gov.

Check out this new funding opportunity with NCORP and apply!
📣Funding Opportunity! These Notices of Funding Opportunities (NOFOs) are for the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP). NCORP is designed to enhance generalizability and dissemination of clinical trial and other human subject research study results through accrual in a variety of community settings. The purpose of NCORP is to engage cancer patient populations, those at risk of cancer, and organizations in rigorous studies focused on cancer control, prevention, treatment and care delivery. #ICYMI📣June is #NationalCancerSurvivorMonth🎗️ and it coincides with an NCI milestone moment: the Office of Cancer Survivorship’s 30th anniversary! Since 1996, the Office has worked to elevate cancer survivorship as a critical area of research, supporting studies on the long term and late effects of cancer and its treatment as the survivor population continues to grow. As we mark this milestone, we remain focused on the future: advancing survivorship research, developing evidence-based tools, and supporting survivors and caregivers across the cancer continuum. Join the NCI Cohort Consortium for a June 17 webinar on how geospatial science is advancing environmental epidemiology and cancer research, featuring innovative approaches for characterizing neighborhood environments using Google Street View imagery, assessing environmental contaminants from industrial emissions and drinking water sources, and developing novel geospatial measures such as solar jet lag and high-resolution light exposure models to better understand cancer risk. Drs. Rena Jones, Jesse Plascak, and Trang VoPham will discuss how these emerging tools and methods can be applied to cancer cohort research across populations and settings. 🎗️National Cancer Survivors Day this Sunday is a reminder that survivorship is shaped by the lived experience. Survivors and caregivers offer critical perspectives on what it means to live with and beyond cancer—insights that inform research, improve care, and guide resources across the cancer continuum. The Office of Cancer Survivorship will soon share new stories from cancer survivors, told in their own words. In the meantime, explore our collection of survivor and caregiver stories here: https://lnkd.in/e6nPuHhB.
