Unfortunately I wasn't on any mind altering drugs when I watched the movie (the box really should come with a warning). It was made in the early 70's, in that experimental phase, where pushing the boundaries was the most important thing. The pl... read more

"27.3 Iso-Britannia/Medak Mammuttipitkässä, kulttisuosion marinoimassa satiirissa tapaturmaisesti (autoeroottisessa asfyksiassa) menehtyneen kreivin perii Peter O'Toolen esittämä tärähtänyt aatelinen. O'Toole luulee olevansa Jeesus, riipuskelee ristillä ja saarnaa lähipiirilleen alkukristillisiä hyveitä. Kanssa-aateliset pitävät häntä tosi hulluna. Laahava, kehää kiertävä alkupuolisko taittuu toiseksi jyrkästi upeassa, camp-henkisessä kohtauksessa jossa O'Toolen mieli särk"

"Jack Gurney (Peter O'Toole) sairastaa paranoidista skitsofreniaa ja luulee olevansa ruumiiksi muuttunut Jumala, itse Jeesus Nasaretilainen (siksi hän muun muassa nukkuu seinässä roikkuvassa ristissä). Hänen isänsä Ralph Gurney (Harry Andrews) kuolee tapaturmaisesti köyden jatkeena balettihame yllään epäonnistuneen seksileikin yhteydessä ja jättää perinnön hourahtaneelle pojalleen. Rahan perässä nuoremman Gurneyn ympärillä pyörii ymmälläänolevia sukulaisia omine aikomuksin"

I am 50 minutes into the movie right now and I feel like quitting. I usually like obscure 1970s films but this one lacks something. None of the jokes are funny. The only character I like is the butler
