This naughty fairy arrived at her new home in CA yesterday. It's wonderful when people
Sorry for my prolonged LJ absence, but I've been busy making loads of Spooky Sprites & Fall Fairies for the upcoming Baldwin Park Art Stroll. Dead fairies in coffins are horribly fun to make! :P So, mark your calendars for this Friday evening, and come out to see all my new pieces! Lots of amazing artists, good food & music in the heart of Baldwin Park. I'll be set up out front of Trish's Teas near the (Publix) square on New Broad St.One Great Night For Art in Baldwin Park!!! Location:New Broad Street Time:6:00PM Friday, October 16th
And since I've been such a busy artist person lately, I finally set up an Etsy shop online to sell my work (before these nasty fairies completely take over my home!)
The first night of the shop being open a piece sold!
I'll have 6 more pieces ready to add to the shop by tomorrow, then several more by showtime Friday, so keep popping by to see new goodies. :)
Hope to see familiar faces (and new ones too!) at the show Friday.

p.s. I wanted to get in another reminder that if you want my daily updates, follow me on Twitter (BlueMaiya) or friend me on FaceBook (InAnna Maiya).
Ok, so I've been seriously neglecting Myspace & LJ in favor of Twitter & Facebook for months now. Sorry about that guys, but if you want up to the hour updates, you gotta follow me on either of those sites. Search for Blue Maiya or InAnna Maiya and I'll come up... My sweet, funny, brilliant Englishman flew across the pond to take me to a gorgeous bayfront B&B in St Augustine & then propose by the fountain outside of the Casa Monica! He then took me to celebrate at our favorite restaurant, The Tasting Room for tapas, champagne & a 1927 solera, followed by jazz and yummy ports at Stogies cigar bar. I posted some of the pics to flickr here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/maiya/sets/72157619665081098/I was planning a "come & meet my Englishman" pot-luck style gathering at the new pad for this evening, but now it's a come meet my fiancee party. Follow the link for details & message me for directions. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3623/3595332603_8628206f7a_o.jpg Fri, May. 29th, 2009, 02:50 pm

I had the pleasure of watching all 49 entries with Matt Kelland for the first round of judging. I didn't envy him having to pick just 3 winners, but these 3 definitely found ways to pull off amazing animation effects using the Moviestorm software! I personally found these pieces very inspiring for new ways to incorporate Moviestorm as an effective story-telling tool for Fas Ferox and am looking forward to exploring this cutting-edge medium further. See the Moviestorm blog for links and full details: http://www.moviestormblog.com/ Winner: The Exit by Matthew Tyas is a marvellous piece with an ending that takes real skill to pull off. This was only Matthew’s second published Moviestorm film, and it’s extremely impressive.
Runner-up: Clockwork is another masterpiece from iceaxe. The visual imagery is stunning in this well-told and stylish story in the vein of Clockwork Orange, 1984, and Ian McKellen’s take on Richard III.
Runner-up: Control Point by mellowhardy is a strange little tale set at an army checkpoint, very reminiscent of some of the BBC shorts of the 1970s and 1980s. The story is beautifully acted, and the camerawork is first-rate. This is mellowhardy’s second published Moviestorm film.
11 years ago today, my midwife pronounced that my pushes weren't amounting to much because my daughter's head was stuck on my cervix. I SO wished I hadn't insisted on all natural birthing and gone for the drugs at that point! But in the end, you realize what a miracle truly is... Happy birthday Brenna Shae "little raven of the fairy palace". You are the fire of my very soul... 14 years ago, from Tuesday the 7th, the very same midwife that delivered my daughter yelled at me for pushing so hard that my son shot out landing on the bed before she had a chance to catch him! I thank the universe daily that such a noble, compassionate, intelligent and loving being chose me to be his mum! ♥ For Darien's birthday breakfast, I made his fave cheesy scrambled eggs and good bacon, from the food festival we'd gone to a couple days prior. Gifts were opened. Later, we celebrated his b-day dinner out at Hakka's. Where it was OMG! Doing the just bring us food thing at Hakka was the best birthday dinner for Darien ever! Best Chinese food we'd ever eaten hands down! Pics of his extreme b-day dinner, including his Dalek cake (Johnnie lovingly dubbed the Extermi-cake) http://www.flickr.com/photos/maiya |
