Kid in a Candy Store (kinda....)

My friend took this picture in the Tsutaya store in Shibuya. Lovely ne?

I think I'm going to do some posts for a while that are like a picture-diary of my trip to Japan. I recently came home from spending a week there with a friend of mine, it was the most amazing experience of my life! I have a lot of stories to tell so I thought I'd share some of my favorites here!

On our second day in Japan me and Hika took the train from Hannou to Shibuya. That alone was an adventure for me! I've barely ever traveled by train, and never alone, and NEVER in a foreign country.  I don't really speak Japanese, so I was a bit nervous about getting lost and not being able to ask directions (ask Hika, I was majorly paranoid!). But we made it to Shibuya without any bumps!

I have to admit that going to Shibuya, all I could think of was Digimon! (I know! I'm a dork!) I went through a major Digimon Frontier phase in fifth grade, back when I wondered what kind of name "Takuya" or "Kouji" was! (For those of you who don't know, Shibuya station is where the entrance to the Digital World is...like I said, I'm a dork.)
Most of that day was shopping. First we went to this mall that was full of gorgeous clothes I could barely afford to look at! Then we just walked up and down the street looking at the smaller (and more affordable) shops. The highlight of the day was most definitely the Tsutaya DVD and CD store. Hika and I had been planning on buying CDs pretty much since we knew we were going to Japan, so we ran over as soon as we saw the Tsutaya sign. The first floor was entirely DVDs, but we walked right through there and walked up the stairs (passing a billion posters for the drama "Mr. Brain" which I LOVE!) and into the CD section. We were like a couple of kids in a candy store! I had never in my life seen so many CDs I wanted! Versailles, Moi dix Mois, VAMPS, Miyavi, Malice Mizer, L'arc~en~Ciel, Gackt, and about a billion others! It was heaven for a girl like me who listens to more Japanese music than American music! We spent probably two or three hours in there just walking around looking at the thousands of CDs. And of course we each bought one! Hika bought "Lost Angels" by Gackt and I got "Awake" by L'arc~en~Ciel.
With our purchases in hand we sat at the Starbucks on the second floor of the floor. It was fun to people watch from there. We were above the busiest intersection in Shibuya so probably over a thousand people crossed while we were sitting there!

What was really interesting to me was how well-dressed everyone in town was. I was waring jeans and a cute t-shirt and felt so under-dressed! Most of the girls were wearing skirts or shorts with tights and the most adorable shoes! Even a lot of the guys were in wearing nice clothes. The next day I went out I dressed much cuter!
Well, that was the highlights of Shibuya!

Now I need to pretend I care about my Theory of Knowledge paper...eww.
