| My Wanted Rush |

So I saw Wanted today with Allan...holy shit that was an amazing movie. I'd go into details but my words do not do the movie any justice. It's just...go fucking see it. There are things that happened that hurt my brain as my body filled with so much adrenaline from the rush of it all. The overall plot of the movie kind of sucked and Allan figured out the "twist" but in the end it really didn't matter cause it made the action scenes in The Matrix look like a really cheap independent film. Also, Angelina Jolie looked so fuckable in this movie. Usually, I think she's very mannish but in this I just wanted to (cut for inappropriateness).
After the movie me and Allan went to Islands. Hmmm...so good. Haven't had that in a while.
During dinner we got a call from Lorena. She said they were going to Lucky Strikes so after Islands, me and Allan headed over there. It was very boring. We just sat there and talked. I dunno, to drive all the way out to Hollywood when they're all valley based just seemed like a total waste. Eventually, they did decide to drink but I wasn't up for it.
Lately, I've been against drinking. I dunno, it's just...I'm kind of tired of it. It's fun, don't get me wrong, but lately it's just better being the one who orders a diet coke and can remember what happened the next day.
Me, Maggie, Brian, and Allan decided to walk around Hollywood instead of just sit around. Me and Maggie got some yogurt from Ce Fiore and we all ended up in a Forever 21. Brian liked a shirt that looks exactly like the millions of shirts he already owns. Coincidentally, I owe him 20 bucks (technically 40 for a 20 dollar lap dance and a 20 dollar entry fee to the strip club, but he said I don't owe him for the dance) and the shirt he wanted cost 21 so I'm like...if you really want it I'll buy it so we're even. So we went up to the cashier and he handed her the shirt and I handed her my card. Then she gave me back the shirt but I immediately handed it to him and now I'm pretty sure she thinks we're some gay couple. Que Serra... |

Before I get to the gloom and doom of Six Feet Under, I give you one of the best disclaimers I've ever read. I was looking up a recipe for a pan sauce. I'm planning on making some nice pesto marinated pork chops and wanted a nice sauce to go with it. So I was looking for the recipe and found one on a blog but the guy had taken it from "30 Minute Meals with I'm a stupid whore"...err I mean Rachel Ray. Here's what it said at the end of the post...
This recipe is from Rachel Ray's 30 minute meals (although I have never been able to complete a whole recipe in 30 min). It can also be made with beef or chicken.
She's an annoying bitch and a terrorist...moving on.
My week and a half long odyssey to watch all 5 seasons of Six Feet Under has been realized. What an amazing show. Me and Mike watched the finale this weekend and god, was it amazing. I think Evan was wrong in saying it was the best finale ever but he was right by saying that Alan Ball, the show creator, nailed the finale right on the end. It was so fitting for the show. It was poignant and sad and even hopeful because each of the characters that you're supposed to care about for the past 5 years (the show ran from 2001-2005) had a proper good-bye and fitting end. Soft hint, the show is about death and well...everything ends eventually.
Evan also mentioned that the ending has caused everyone he knows who has seen it weep a bit. While me and Mike weren't in tears (cause we're big, strong, macho men hahaha) we did get a bit misty eyed. It was sad and perfect and left Sia's "Breathe Me" stuck in my head.
Today was a day of culmination, not only because it was the end of Six Feet Under for me but also it was the end of the Euro 2008. My Summer is pretty barren now. What to do?
I need a job but sadly, after four years of college, I am unqualified for most jobs. CSUN teaches you Avid because "it's the industry standard" but every job I come across requires you to know Final Cut Pro and Photoshop. Two things the film department does not teach you.
So I've decided to learn both with the rest of my summer. I'm in no rush to get a job and I don't think I want to settle for an intermediary job at the moment like working at Best Buy or the Apple Store (well, the latter I really wouldn't mind). I just don't know...I do need the money (badly) but I don't wanna end up like Chuck. I know if I get a job at the Apple Store, I won't pursue anything else. Editing and getting into the business is my goal.
I'd write more but I'll leave you all wanting a little more...not that any of you do really. |

| My Funeral Musings |

It's been a while since I've written a real post. Of course, no time is better than almost 4 in the morning.
I just got done watching the season 4 premiere of Six Feet Under. What a haunting and beautiful show. I've always wanted to watch it but I don't know why I never did. I thank Mike and also damn him for turning me onto this show or else I wouldn't be up so late every goddamn night watching every episode in marathon fashion.
The latest episode was just so heartbreaking. It's funny...for a show that's about death it took until the 30th episode to really get to me. I guess for all the shit that's been piled onto the characters, in a way it piles on you too until you just can't take it anymore. No, I didn't cry or anything but you know, it's the first episode that really tugged on the heart strings so to speak.
It's funny, I realized just now that every episode is like attending a funeral and I hate them. I've only been to three in my life, thank god, but I've also missed two that I should have gone to. The first, I was too young to realize what it was. The second, was my neighbors funeral and while I was a bit older...I still didn't realize what it was.
What should have been the third was my friend Brian who died while we were in the 11th grade. That was just denial on my part.
The fourth should have been my mom's cousin...which makes him kind of my uncle...that died of lung cancer a few years ago. Made the best goddamn soup and I've never enjoyed it since he died. Last time I saw him he could barely sit up in a chair and we never got to go the funeral cause our lives got in the way.
And the fifth was last summer when I attended my cousin's funeral. Didn't know him too well but he'd never let it seem that way. The guy gave me my first latte and I've been drinking coffee like that ever since. This funeral was the worst cause I was old enough to get that dying in bed at 45 (he had heart problems all his life) and leaving behind 7 children is just so fucked up. I did everything I could to stay together for that week. I even turned to a video camera and document the whole thing just to not cry. That didn't work out so well. Just a side note, to document a funeral and point a camera into a grieving widow's face and not feel anything is something only a soulless person could do.
But getting back to Six Feet Under. It's ironic cause I hate funerals and yet in the past week, in a way, I've sat through 30 of them. It's funny facing what you hate through something so beautiful.
It was good writing again. More to come, I'm sure. |
