@LD-W for Soulsborne stuff

@AlbeGian for lots of whimsical orchestral

@AceMantra, @etherealwinds, @lucidshadowdreamer, @baumarius, and @zaazng for pure raw orchestral emotion

@ADR3-N for rap

@Lumiflag for arrangement (as she arranged the Inkfinity Fest Three Wishes)

And there's many, many more I can name but the fact of the matter is, I've named people before but they've all been forgotten, neglected, and none of this is okay. They're not treated like the greats they truly are

That’s why I made this thread to kinda bring attention to modern artists, like I’ve said, everyone still talks about Waterflame and them and they are AMAZING musicians, more light needs to be shined on these guy too

@KlausTao - R&B, Lofi Chill, and anything that glitches really

@Trunotfals - Some truly inspiring djent and adjacent metal

@FarFromSundown - Excellent metal composer, the 2000s alternative kind we know and love

@Teqneek - Awesome rapper, puts me to shame

Thank you <3

For my own 'nominees' it would have to be the following:

@MayaClars - for Indie, she's been a welcome breath of fresh air in a genre I enjoy, but don't generally go out of my way to listen to. I really like her unique voice and admire her creativity and mixing/composing skills. I wish I was that far along at her age. Truly impressed on all accounts.

@RaneMusic - for Metal. There's so many amazing talents on here in this genre, but I really respect his approach on music. I may be biased as we did a collab together tho lol.

@Burn7 - just one of the sickest guitarist on this site imo

@ADR3-N - i love everything you put out. I love how you blur the lines of genres and just enjoy talking to you as a person as well. I admire your tenacity at always pushing forward

@EspyoNG - House/Dubstep/Drum n Bass (really just anything electronic. Another genre I don't really listen to, but anytime I listen to one their songs, it makes me question why I don't.

Some artists, I recently discovered that I would put in the 'Up and Coming' or "Keep an Eye On' category:

@MRM3

@smallerspareng

I know I missed so many amazing artists that I've interacted with over the years, so forgive me if i didn't mention you. I love the diversity and depth of talent that is on this site. You have no idea

@DIGITAL-DESCENDANT for ambiental breakcore

@CreoMusic for house

@Jezzel & @trevor8 for Synthwave & Chillwave respectively

@baryiscool for cinematic (?) rock idk how to call it

@snuffles i dont think he has a specific genre, but all of his songs are really good

My music taste is cooked lmao

GD Styled music

@G2961, I refuse to believe he is a human being, I think he’s secretly a glow object, probably a corner one also. It’s extremely strange how his stuff can sound so… C L E A N… in fact, it seems flawless, that’s probably why I don’t listen to him as much as other more flawed artists.

Honorable mention: @MJS1, he makes a few GD inspired tracks

Rap-HipHop (also metal)

@Adr3-n, one of the first people to ask me for a level in geometry… it was such a random ass request XD but she does make some really good stuff! But I like her for her sample packs mostly

Chill stuff

Absolutely @Trevor8, he’s also a really nice collaborator! Whilst I’m a very nice procrastinator XD. BUT IN ALL SERIOUSNESS he makes really relaxing music! I love his style as well

honorable mention: @Midnights-ocean, really strange, yet relaxing style, sorta like trevor8 but he posts less XD

Dubstep

@Zoftle, I dunno man, he just has some good songs, plus he introduced me to color bass with his music (well, before I even knew what “color bass” was)

honorable mention: @Skynexn, I feel he’s got a lot of good ideas, and he’s willing to try new things, I really should listen to him more

Trance, Progressive

@Musicbyspektral, but he’s definitely got some great songs that could considered in this category! Addictive ass melodies!

VGM

@Johassa…. No seriously more people should know who this guy is, he’s like Preds but you raised the hi pass frequencies a tiny bit and added a sitar.

honorable mention: @Voidendsound, he doesn’t do this genre much, but the one time I know he embraced it, it ended up being one of my top picks for the AIM contest when i was the judge

Indie

I have no favourite artist on Newgrounds, ‘cause I listen to qualitative Peak-Time / Driving Techno, most of the time, but if I had to nominate someone outside from Newgrounds, it could be Gizmo & Mac, and hngT for their “Midnight Paradox”, and “Stoner Algorithm”. There could be Ludicin too for his Speedcore bangers I listen to non-stop, especially his “Fallen Symphony”, and “Obliterate”.

If I had to nominate someone from Newgrounds, it could be @X-ManOfficial for his Ambient-industrial-ish music, notably his “The Scrapyard”, and @cametek for his Artcore and Colour Bass bangers.

Since everybody focused on the techno-electro music sphere up until now, I'm gonna change things up a bit :) These are some of my picks from other genres:

ORCHESTRAL

From a purely non-hybrid classical composition standpoint, @hollandalbright for me takes the cake by a longshot; he's fairly "new" to NG, but it's been telling how successful he's been in all contests he's participated in. He's an incredible talent, I can't come up with one bad thing to say about virtually any piece he's published recently, he's been a workhorse! I follow him in other places too, his work rate is kind of intimidating lol

CINEMATIC (EPIC)

@uxvellda is a name I've been hearing quite a lot, no wonder: really great compositions with a helluva lot of fine production going into every song, really tasteful hybrid implementation of electronics. @chipsqueek, though veering more aggressively towards a more industrial and brutalist vibe, doesn't fail to impress me with HYPERlong works, absolutely pounding you to mince meat. I've been following him on IG and discovered he 3d models is own album covers 🤯 can't get more badass than that

CINEMATIC (CHARACTER PORTRAIT)

AKA a chiller, more character-driven, dynamic, and more traditionally Disneyian sound, distinct from blockbuster soundtracks. Since it's one of my favourite genres to indulge in, it's hard to only choose one composer, so it's gonna be a toss-up between @manvineo and @payton-petkus: they're both obviously amazing composers who typically focus on cutesy and lighthearted tracks, both with impeccable instrumentation and arrangement; i can't in good faith put one over the other, so check both of em out!

JAZZ

Quite an underappreciated genre on this website, I find it really hard to discover new artists who go beyond the classic 50s jazz archetype, and it's a shame since modern jazz is a whole other beast. That being said, I did find one artist who checks all my boxes, and that's @staintocton! One of the most insane talents on here, he's been making absolute contemporary bangers that reflect today's jazz trajectory: crazy chords, complex structures, crazy pianist and flugelhorn player, definitely one of my highlights here.

VGM

Videogame music, the landscape is super-saturated so my two picks are not gonna be anything BUT subjective, if y'all have someone else in mind lmk. My two GOATs are @ComposerEvans and @WindStepper. While the former is in general one of the best composers on NewGrounds and knowledgeable in every genre he wants, the latter has been a relentlessly reliable bringer of bangers and a personal self-esteem crusher by just how clean his productions are (if you wanna collab with me let's link up wink wink wink)

FUSION/FUNK

I can't leave my boy FUSION outta this list, nope! It's actually one of the hardest genres to master, and I say this as someone who thinks of being at a respectable competency level. You've gotta know your accents, your chords, your pizzazz and your personal heroes to make GREAT fusion. @fenderhodes (whom I just discovered) has mastered their craft it seems lol

It's not really 'fusion' in the true fashion of the term, but the influences are non-negligible: they have some songs which have been stuck in my head for quite some time, definitely give them a listen!

UP&COMERS

Just wanna give a shout-out to some smaller musicians who I feel should get more recognition:

@hoongtube - found out about them really recently, and I'm blown away everytime they publish a new track, especially given that they do everything in BEEP BOX, WHAT - to my knowledge nobody manages to sound that good on that DAW (or maybe I simply have skills issues lmao)

@esoots - not gonna sugarcoat it: I knew him years ago when we met in a videogame when he was just starting making music; years onwards, he's one of the most talented IDM producers I've ever heard. He's been a friend of mine for quite some time and he only just returned active on NG, so check his stuff out and give him a follow!!

(special mention) THE EVERYMAN

@teffyD, not sure why nobody mentioned him yet lmao
