Abstract

In this review talk, we will discuss the general theory of indefinite theta functions. Specifically, we will review key examples and history, discuss the general work of Vignéras on their modularity, and discuss how to find modular completions for them. This will include mock modular forms, higher depth mock modular forms, and, if time permits, a parallel theory of functions termed mock Maass theta functions by Zwegers.
