More than 1,600 oncology nurses sit nervously in a room, ready to take the first Oncology Certified Nurse (OCNÂŪ) examination. Forty years ago, the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCCÂŪ) launched what has become a lasting and powerful tradition of excellence in oncology nursing certification.

Higher neighborhood deprivation levels are significantly associated with higher C-reactive protein levels (p = 0.05) in individuals who live there, according to study results published in the March 2026 issue of the Oncology Nursing Forum. The researchers said that little is known about the biologic impact of economic vulnerability and how a person’s neighborhood deprivation influences their systemic inflammation and stress.
