For the past ten months, APHA has engaged with over 70 organizations to learn and share best practices to establishing, building and strengthening partnerships between governmental public health agencies and community-based organizations. Join APHA to learn what recent data collection efforts revealed about strengthening partnerships, and to hear about an exciting new opportunity for funding and support!

Tia Taylor Williams, MPH, CNS (Moderator)
Director, Center for Public Health Policy. Tia Taylor Williams is
a champion for health, equity and justice with over 23 years of experience in
public health. She currently serves as the Director of the Center for Public
Health Policy at the American Public Health Association. In this role, Tia
provides strategic oversight to a diverse portfolio of projects addressing
social factors that influence health, including environment, education, and
access to health care. Since joining APHA in 2008, Tia has provided leadership
in building the organizationâs capacity to focus more upstream on the root
causes of health inequities to advance health and racial equity.
Angela McGowan, JD, MPH
American Public Health Association Senior Director at the American Public Health Association directing the
Alliance for Disease Prevention and Response. Previously, she was a Project
Director at the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP) with
the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, assigned from the Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). At ODPHP, she led the Healthy People 2020
Law and Health Policy Project. Past experiences include serving as a Senior
Program Officer with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, working at CDCâs
Office of Planning, Evaluation, and Legislation at the National Center for
Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, serving in CDC's Epidemic
Intelligence Service with the Guide to Community Preventive Services, and working
as a Legal Services Officer with Georgia's Division of Public Health. Angela is
also an adjunct professor of law at Georgetown Law where she co-teaches a
course in public health law and ethics. She received a law degree from
Vanderbilt, a masterâs in public health from the Rollins School of Public
Health at Emory University, and a bachelorâs in international relations from
William and Mary.
Kate Robb
For over 10 years, Kate Robb has worked across sectors to advance health
equity through coalition-building, advocating for equitable and just policies,
as well as creating innovative tools and resources for public health
professionals. Kate currently serves as the Deputy Director of the Center for
Public Health Policy at the American Public Health Association (APHA). In this
role, she leads the Environmental Health Program and frequently collaborates
with environmental health and public health organizations to amplify
environmental health priorities, build capacity for the environmental health
workforce and support environmental justice efforts across the nation.
Throughout her career, sheâs worked with planners, transportation engineers,
water professionals, and more, to drive collaborative action toward health
equity.
