Weekly Recap | April 16, 2026

Happy Thursday! Just like the Artemis rocket, the Weekly Recap has returned on schedule! Let's see what happened last week!

NEWS AND ISSUES

  • We started the week off hot on Monday with notifications being borked for a bit. We commented on this post, but yet there were still many, MANY other posts asking the same question. Please search before posting if you are experiencing some atypical Reddit weirdness.

  • There is a weird thing going on right now where Spanish translated posts are not showing comments. Dios mio! We commented on this post and a fix is in the works!

  • Some Android users will have some free awards to give out! This is similar (as in "exactly the same") as when iOS users were given free awards a little while ago.

  • Some users may not see the little "Create post" option at the bottom of their screen. This is an experiment and users in this group will see a + in the upper right hand corner. You can tap that to create a post.

  • Just another reminder that Reddit does not provide support outside of Reddit. If someone is asking you to contact them on Discord or any other platform so that you can "fix" your account, it is a scam. Please do not fall for it.

  • The most recent version of the app is 2026.15.0. If your app is not updated to the most recent version, it may not function properly.

PLEASE REPORT RULE BREAKING CONTENT

  • If you see content in r/help that breaks the rules of r/help, please use the report button. You do not need to engage with those users unless you're going to redirect them to where they can actually get the help that they're looking for. But regardless, please report rule breaking content. Reporting content that breaks the rules helps us keep r/help free of spam and off-topic posts, and that allows users who really need out help to more easily get it. The mods can't see everything all the time, so reporting content is a great way to surface it to the mods so that they can deal with it. No one likes a spammer!

CURRENT EXPERIMENTS

Reddit sometimes runs experiments. These experiments tend to last between 4-6 weeks, though they can go longer or end sooner. While there isn't a way to opt out of experiments, feel free to leave constructive and specific feedback in this post and as I've mentioned about, I'll be happy to pass it along to the team in charge. Ongoing current experiments can be found here.

COMMON ACCOUNT ISSUES

Common account issues can be found here. These are things like hacked accounts, NSFW accounts, suspended accounts, etc. I'm also including "Changes to Reddit" in this section as well.

BUGS ROUNDUP - COURTESY OF CORRECTSCALE!

  • [All Platforms] FIXED Some mod lists were showing a "wow, so much empty" error. The fix has been released and we have confirmation that it is working! Thanks to all who worked on this issue!

  • [iOS] A bug has returned to the iOS app where the comment composer doesn't scroll when writing long comments. This is actively being worked on. This post in r/redditbugs has been reopened and will be updated.

  • [Android] Some users were reporting the app slowing way down and then crashing on Android 2026.14. The fix is out in 2026.15! So if you're having this issue, please update your app.

  • [All platforms] On Wednesday, some mods were reporting that already actioned content was still in the mod queue. That is fixed! If mods are still experiencing this issue, actioning the content again should fix it up.

  • [iOS] Some users are still reporting the iOS refreshing all the time. There is a stickied post about this in r/redditbugs here. If you are still experiencing this, please upgrade your app to iOS 2026.13.1 or above! You must update the app to receive this fix!

  • [All platforms] Scheduled posts were failing to post on April 9th. Yesterday, a fix went out to take care of any posts that were stuck since April 9th. So this is considered fixed!

  • And finally, this is just a little PSA about an issue that we see from time to time. If you get an error like this one that prompts you to enable email digests when checking your notifications, that is related to a site-wide issue. A fix is being worked on to stop that from happening in the future. But in the meantime, if you run into that, it's not you! It's us! All you can do is be patient and wait it out.

  • Translation options for some languages are currently unavailable for some folks. We replied to a post here about this. Reddit is in the process of improving/tweaking certain supported languages, so some language may be unable to be translated during this transition period.

WEEKLY STATISTICS (BASED ON THE PAST SEVEN DAYS)

  • 1,434 posts. That's really close to the 1,465 we had last week. Only 31 fewer!

  • 4,473 comments. That's down 247 from the 4,720 comments last week.

  • 1.2 million views. That's down 62.7k views from the 1.2-ish million views last week.

HELP WITH R/HELP: CONTACTING MODERATORS

Sometimes, you will need to get in touch with the moderators of a subreddit for a variety of reasons. Maybe your post isn't showing up or you need clarification on a rule or something else. To contact the mods on the desktop site, there is a little "Message Mods" link on the sidebar that you can click. On the app, tap the three dots in the upper right hand corner of the sub and then tap "Message moderators".

When sending a message to the mods, please remember that the moderators are volunteers. They are not admins. They have limited abilities and powers. They do not have access to your account, they do not know why you were banned from the site or why your posts were caught in the spam filter, etc. They can help with subreddit-level issues. They may tell you to contact the admins because that is who you need to help you. They're not trying to blow you off! They're trying to point you in the correct direction to get a resolution to your issue! The more clear and concise you can explain your issue, the more easily they will be able to help you.

Also, please be kind. As I mentioned above, mods are volunteers who just want to help out. Totally get that if you have to contact support of any kind, something isn't going well and you're likely frustrated or upset or confused. That's normal! But it's not an excuse to treat people poorly. You'll get a lot further a lot quicker if you're pleasant.

Got it back!!
Profile

After 5 months of my account being hacked and used in the oddest of ways (the weird subreddits, and car shipping subs) the hacker/buyer of my account slipped up and forgot their password. When they req a new one they immediately made it but my email got notified. I was able to then get ahold of the account and reset everything and then add a new 2fa. Keep hope alive for your hacker to slip up.

Ps yes I went through the retrieval process several times to no avail but here we are. Watch your cooks and third party extensions y'all!
