Introduction
Introduction

Hi there! You can call me Tarrow. I'm from the Republic of Ireland and am 18 years old. I'm gay-aroace and agender

I'm an apostate of the Catholic Church and am an anti-theist (I believe religion shouldn't exist), and I believe that the Celtic nations should form one federal government. I'm not really in favour of any world superpower, in all honesty all of them are bad in some way, hmm, actually France seems pretty good, but China, Russia, the US and the UK all have many, many flaws

I'm a nationalist and believe that empires such as the British Empire (now the UK) should be forced to return all artefacts and other belongings to their colonies and other places they invaded, I also believe they should have to pay back those nations for what they did to them

I like astronomy, history and politics, and one day I want to be an astrophysicist

Speaking from the last month, the course work is pretty light. Ive heard that the Intro to Applied Maths class speeds up quite a bit so Im bracing for that, but if you meet all of your requirements for each class (some classes recommend you get a certain grade in LC, not a requirement most of the time but check individual requirements). But I wouldn't say uni itself is light, theres a lot of new things and social interaction and stuff meaning you're kind of always on your toes. But no I wouldn't say the coursework itself is too much as long as you keep up with it

Hey Stage 1 DN200 here! I would really recommend my course tbh. My classes are generally really interesting and my lecturers are generally very kind and generally pretty funny. I cant speak much on opportunities later since I just started, but as a physics oriented stream I get one actual lab every two weeks or so in Thermal Physics, I generally find the class painful tbh but you can take it in either 1st or 2nd year. In my experience the university is pretty student heavy, although multiple of my lecturers are doing research that awe struck me because I had seen it in mainstream physics stuff.

Overall I'd say UCD science is incredibly good. The downside are as follows. In DN200 at least you take a module called Scientific Enquiry, there was a lot of messiness around that this year and the theres potential to be landed with a bad group, but its alright. Again the Thermal physics lecturer isnt great imo but he has his moments and its improving as we get used to it. Overall I'd say most of the downsides come with the shock of just how different everything is. But yeah in conclusion Im incredibly happy with my choice and think its certainly a good choice for others to consider. Hope this was helpful

Thank you. Ive tried it at home and in various parts of my university today. I'll open it up when I get home. I have a feeling its the battery being loose since that would explain a lot (especially since I had the battery replaced a few weeks ago but it was fine until now), but Ill confirm for sure if thats the issue.

My laptop won't turn on or accept power

I genuinely am not sure what to do. I have an Inspiron 14 5000 2-in-1 laptop but its been buggy for the last week or so. It wouldnt turn on one morning, and then throughout the day at uni I tried to charge it and it refused to charge (the light doesn't turn on even after I've tried multiple outlets that I know work). I decided to take it to a repair shop and apparently it worked perfectly for them as soon as they started using it, and it worked for me for the last few days. But then last night I turned it on. It had a weird empty battery symbol there, but not like "low battery" it was a completely different symbol that seemed like the battery was gone or something, and it shut off. It has now refused to turn back on or accept power after I've tried turning it on. Ive tried doing the hard reset 30 second power button turn on that Google suggests, but it doesnt work. Im not sure what to do since according to the repair shop its perfectly fine but like its obviously not.

Any advice is greatly appreciated

Pretty awesome ngl, uni life is amazing
