The Northumberland Festival of Sport 2026
The Northumberland Festival of Sport is a popular event welcoming competitors of all abilities and offering activities for the whole family.
The Northumberland Festival of Sport includes Open Water Swim Challenge Events, a Junior Aquathlon, and adult Triathlon, Aquathlon, and Aquabike races.
The Northumberland open water swim challenge events are very well suited to beginners and equally attractive to the seasoned open water swimmer. The Children’s Aquathlon events attract all the range of ages from TriStar Start, TriStar 1, TriStar 2, & TriStar 3. The Aquabike, Aquathlon & Triathlon events are great for beginners and for those who would like to move up from the sprint distance to the standard distance events.
The swim will take place in the warm shallow freshwater Ladyburn Lake set within the park grounds. The bike route will take you out of the Country Park along a beautiful coastal route and the run will be a multi-lap route on the footpath that winds its way around the lake.
The Country Park is located right next to the stunning Druridge bay, on a beautiful stretch of Northumberland coastline. The Country Park is a popular place to cycle, run, swim, walk, paddle, surf and is perfect for a fun family weekend.
Please note, all non-BTF athletes who enter the Junior and Adult Triathlon / Aquabike & Aquathlon events will need to purchase a Race Pass from BTF HERE.
Saturday, Open water Swim challenge competitors Do NOT need to purchase a BTF race licence to compete.

The minimum age for the 750m & 1.5km open water swim events is 12yrs on 31st December 2026.
The minimum age for the 3km open water swim event is 13yrs old on 31st December 2026.

The minimum age for the Sprint Distance Aquathlon, Aquabike & Triathlon events is 15 years old on 31st December 2026, and for the Standard Distance Aquathlon, Aquabike & triathlon events is 17 years old on 31st December 2026.
A booking fee of 5% will be applied to each order by our online entry partner, Results Base.
