Aerospace Engines A to Z
Aerospace Engines A to Z

See AO-Aviadvigatel / PNPP / Soloviev.

They have a manufacturing plant in the city of Perm.

-It has the old design office founded by Shvetsov after WWII, where radial engines were designed and built.

-It was known as Perm Motor Group between 1934 and 1935 and there is information that it already manufactured the M-25 and various types of gearboxes.

-See also Shvetsov to learn the range of engines of this designer.

-In 1953 Soloviev came to direct it. From this new period, the TV-2M (GTV-2) turbines were designed and manufactured in Perm, as well as the GTU and GTV-5P, 4P, 6P, 12 and 16.

-PS-12 and GTE series. In 1959 the D-25 and the RD-214 rocket engine for the Kosmos rockets were made.

-In 1960 the D-20 comes out. Four years later, there is the Proton's RD-253 rocket engine.

-The D-30 turbofan is from 1965 although some were built in Rybinsk. The D-100 is also from Perm.

-The D-34F6 for the MiG-31M had a bypass with afterburner, and was made in Perm in 1979.

-The RD-275 rocket engine is from 1987. In 1992 the PS-90A was made, and later the D-200, etc.

-As stated in Aviadvigatel, the current PERM was formed in 1989 (after the division of the USSR) not as OKB but as “Joint Stock Company”.

-The PS-90 is of the 160 kN category, they have been seen in the IL-96-300, the TU-204 and as replacement on the IL-86. The upgraded version is the PS-90A.

From Appendix 9: This company builds turbofans designed by Pavel Soloviev (PS).

-The D-30 is similar to the PS-90.

Perm PS-90-A76
“PS-90-A76”

From Appendix 12: It is the current Aviadvigatel, from Perm. Lately the 5th generation turbofan engine, the PD-14, has come out.

-It is an engine derived from the PD-7 (PD-18). It has about 16 proposals from the Moscow TsIAM institute.

-It was initially intended for the IL-76LL and later for the MC-21.

-They are the new generation that will replace previous engines. Another example is the PD-10V Gas Generator for the large Mi-26 helicopter that will replace the old D-136 engines.

The author of this edition of Aeroengines AtoZ, through Aeroteca, collaborated on Version 2 of this video, which is presented here.

To understand the operation of the connecting rods, the 1929 Continental R 670 single-cylinder engine was chosen.

A demonstration of Version 3, improved at the author's suggestion, is also available on YouTube at a later date. This version shows bronze valve guides, improved valve spring movement, and the split crankshaft counterweights and front bearing balls also move.

The design is from Juan Soler, Sant Cugat, Barcelona

Below we show a flash of version 3

Counting also with the coloboration of JMC of Enginys Mecanics in Mataro, Barcelona
