トニー・ベッカーとポール・トレイラー（Tony Becher and Paul R. Trowler）の共著になる本に『アカデミズムの部族と縄張りについて：知的な疑問と学問領域文化（第２版）』という本（2001）がある。

研究者の集団を部族的な集団とみなした、ちょっと疑似人類学的な手法をつかって、彼らの「生息状況」を分析した本である。もちろん、部族に喩え るのは、彼らを「特殊な文化生活を営む現地住民」というオリエンタリズム的な揶揄の意味もあるだろう。この本の章立ては次のようになっている。
