Note géographique : 
Site archéologique de la Plaine côtière, à mi-chemin entre les villes anciennes de Gezer et Lakish, à la limite entre l'actuelle Plaine côtière méridionale et les contreforts de Judée, sur le versant sud de la vallée d'Élah. Occupé depuis le chalcolithique, le site renferme les vestiges d'une cité antique, majoritairement identifiée par les archéologues à la Gat(h) des Philistins, une des cinq cités-États de la Pentapole philistine. Plus tard (12e siècle), les Croisés y édifièrent la forteresse de Blanche-Garde
