The game of "Court"
(c) Robert Kalin december 2004

This game is in fact a disguise of another one.
That game uses a special card deck for "Hanafuda" games.
The rules below are based on koi-koi but modified.
you can use this deck to play many other hanafuda card games.
To play these games please see the 'combinations' below the insructions.
In the game of court there are 12 suites
Each suite has 4 cards.
Each suite is identifed by a number & a symbol.
There are special combinations identified by visual cues.

----------------------------------------------------------
	Court
----------------------------------------------------------
Has 2 players.
12 complete 'rounds' make a game.
Objective: To capture a 'combination' faster than your opponent.
Once a combination is created you can 'go out' and end the round.

To determine dealer. each player picks a card at random.
The card with the highest number on it is dealer.

Dealer then deals 4 cards to self, 4 to center 'field' and 4 to opponent. Then repeats once so that each play has 8 cards, and 8 are in between them turned face up. The remaining cards are placed to the side of the field as the 'draw' pile.

Void start.
If there is a complete suite on the field then the game is declared voice and the cards are reshuffled. The round is not counted.

Automatic Win.
if a player is dealt a set of cards that has a complete suite, or 4 pairs, then he wins that round.

Captureing.
You can capture a card in the field by placing a matching one from your hand on top of it. It must be of the same suite to capture.

Turns alternate.

Each turn a player...

A. Takes a card from his hand (not exposed cards) and places it on the table. If it matches (in suite) to any card on the table, he captures it. If it does not match it is added to the cards in the 'field'.

B. Takes a card from the draw pile and adds it to the field. If this drawn card matches the suite of any card on the field, then the player captures those cards too. It it doesnt, it is added to the field.

C. Captured cards are placed near the cards of the player that captured them. They are exposed and not reused in the game.

The player that creates a legal combination can Win the game and "go out". Once "out" the round is over. Rounds are verry short. That's why a complete game may comprise of up to 12 rounds. You can of course play for fewer rounds if you so choose.

HOWEVER if the game is played for points then a player can declare "ready" A player can declare 'ready' when they have made a combination but want to continue the game. Once they have created an additional combination they can 'go out'. Having declared 'ready' and 'gone out' by the same player means that the score of that player is multiplied.

Points.
Each combination gives the winner a differnt number of points.
The games could be played for whoever wins the most. Or whoever has the highest points. Agree to whichever style of play before you begin any game.

Point Multipliers
You can double even tripple your score if you make certain combinations or have certain cards when the game starts.
