John Abraham (India, 1937), who had been assistant to Mani Kaul on Uski Roti (1969), directed only four films, all in Malayalam except one:
Vidhyarthikale Ithile Ithile (1972),
Agraharathil Kazhuthai (1977), written in Tamil by Venkat Swaminathan and inspired by Robert Bresson's Au Hasard Balthazar,
Cheriyachante Kroorakrithyangal (1979),
and
Amma Ariyan/ Report to Mother (1986), the latter an experiment of the
Odessa Collective that he had formed in 1984.
He died in 1987.
