Marielle Heller (USA, 1979), raised in the Bay Area and trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, joined prestigious theater groups such as the Magic Theatre, the American Conservatory Theater and the Berkeley Repertory Theatre before debuting as a filmmaker with The Diary of a Teenage Girl (2015), an adaptation of Phoebe Gloeckne's graphic novel (2002).

She then directed two biopics: Can you ever Forgive me (2018) and A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (2019).

Nightbitch (2024) is an adaptation of Rachel Yoder's novel (2021).
