Blues Brothers (1980), sceneggiato con Dan Aykroyd, e` un musical comico i cui protagonisti, vestiti da uomini d'affari e perennemente con gli occhiali scuri, scorazzano nella loro citta` alla ricerca di vecchie glorie del blues e seminano lo scompiglio nella loro scuola. Jake Blues esce dal carcere e viene accolto dal fratello Elwood Blues. Vanno a trovare la suora che li allego` in orfanotrofio. La suora e` affranta perche' l'orfanotrofio verra` chiuso se qualcuno non paga le tasse arretrate, un'ingenta somma che la suora non sa come trovare. Sempre vestiti di nero e con occhiali scuri, i Blues Brothers in una chiesa gospel (il predicatore e` James Brown) vengono illuminati: devono rimettere insieme la "band" per guadagnare quei soldi. Si avviano sulla loro missione religiosa, ma la polizia li ferma perche' non si sono fermati a un semaforo rosso. Seminano la polizia in una shopping mall, causando devastazione totale. Parcheggiano di notte nell'isolato malfamato dove vive Elwood. Una donna armata di fucile li prende di mira e spara. Scampati miracolosamente all'attentato, si coricano. La mattina la polizia e` pronta ad arrestarli, ma la stessa donna ha piantato una bomba che fa esplodere esattamente mentre la polizia sfonda la porta. I Blues Brothers, che dormivano vestiti di tutto punto e con gli occhiali scuri, si alzano in mezzo alle macerie dell'edificio come se nulla fosse. Cominciano cosi` a reclutare i vecchi membri della band, alcuni con le buone e altri con le cattive. Sbaragliano un gruppo di miliziani nazisti che stanno bloccando un ponte, poi vanno a prendere l'amico nero che fa il cuoco in un ristorante, nonostante l'opposizione della moglie (Aretha Franklin). Comprano gli strumenti da un negoziante cieco (Ray Charles). Mentre i nazisti stanno dando loro la caccia, portano la band che hanno reclutato a un club che sta aspettando un gruppo di country. Si improvvisano country singers, hanno successo, ma consumano piu` birra di quanto guadagnino. Arrivano i veri country singers e i Blues Brothers tagliano la corda. Anche il proprietario del saloon e i country singers si lanciano all'inseguimento, ma si scontrano con un'auto della polizia. I Blues Brothers stanno preparando un concerto storico, stanno andando in giro con l'altoparlante e facendo distribuire volantini dappertutto. Purtroppo cio` rivela anche la loro posizione agli inseguitori. I Blues Brothers arrivano in ritardo perche' devono evitare la polizia appostata tutt'attorno al locale (e perche' prima sabotano il camion dei country singers), e faticano un po' a vivacizzare una platea glaciale (fra cui decine di poliziotti armati fino ai denti) ma alla fine e` un successo trionfale, e un impresario anticipa loro i soldi per un disco. I Blues Brothers devono pero` sgusciare di nascosto. Stanno per farcela nei cunicoli sotterranei, quando si ritrovano davanti la donna che ha cercato per tutto il film di ucciderli, armata di mitragliatore: e` la ex fidanzata che Jake abbandono` sugli scalini della chiesa il giorno del matrimonio. Ma tutto cio` che Jake deve fare e` baciarla perche' lei cada tramortita e i due riprendono la fuga, inseguiti da decine di auto della polizia. Dopo un inseguimento spettacolare per le strade della citta`, le auto della polizia si schiantano, ma a quel punto subentrano i nazisti, che si sfracellano a loro volta. I Blues Brothers arrivano al grattacielo e si barricano dentro. Salgono calmissimi in ascensore, mentre fuori persino truppe speciali dell'esercito circondano l'edificio e gli elicotteri sorvolano a bassa quota. Entrano nell'ufficio delle tasse e consegnano il denaro che salda il debito dell'orfanatrofio. In carcere suoneranno il blues per i carcerati. An American Werewolf In London (1981) is a lighthearted horror tale. Due autostoppisti americani in Inghilterra in una notte di luna piena vengono aggrediti da un lupo nei pressi di un villaggio di gente scontrosa. Uno dei due ragazzi muore, l'altro e` soltanto ferito e viene curato a Londra. Una notte sogna l'amico morto, il quale gli spiega la leggenda del licantropo e gli rivela che proprio lui e` il nuovo licantropo, e lo supplica di suicidarsi. La bella infermiera lo consola e ospita nel suo appartamento. Il dottore che lo cura e` insospettito dalla dinamica dell'incidente e si reca al villaggio a indagare, ma vi viene accolto con ostilita` e omerta` dagli abitanti. Quando torna la luna piena, la profezia si avvera: il ragazzo muta in un lupo e sbrana diverse persone in giro per Londra. Si risveglia il mattino dopo nudo in uno zoo: deve tornare a casa coprendosi con palloncini rubati a un bambino e un cappotto rubato a una signora. Leggendo sul giornale degli omicidi, il dottore intuisce l'accaduto. Anche il ragazzo capisce di aver ucciso tutta quella gente e vorrebbe costituirsi. Il dottore avverte la polizia. Il fantasma dell'amico gli appare di nuovo in un cinema, questa volta accompagnato dalle vittime, e tutti lo supplicano di suicidarsi. La notte arriva e la trasformazione si compie di nuovo. Massacra i pochi avventori del cinema e poi, nonostante la polizia sia gia` stata chiamata, semina il panico nelle strade, causando un ingorgo con dozzine di morti. Il mostro viene braccato dalla polizia finche' si rifugia in fondo a un vicolo cieco. La polizia si prepara ad abbatterlo, ma il dottore, avvisato dell'accaduto, ha portato la ragazza sul luogo, e lei tenta di parlare al mostro, dicendogli fra le lacrime che lo ama. Lui fa per saltarle addosso e la polizia spara, uccidendolo. Spies Like Us (1985) e` una variazione comica su Dr Strangelove. Austin (Dan Aykroyd) e` un tecnico riparatore che lavora alla CIA. Emmett (Chevy Chase) e` un fannullone e mattacchione che lavora alla CIA. Austin e` un genio della decifrazione dei messaggi in codice, ma il suo capo non gli consente di preparasi per un esame importante che gli consentirebbe la promozione a un incarico piu` interessante. Emmett e` soltanto un donnaiolo. Pertanto sbagliano entrambi l'esame e finiscono ultimi. Emmett prova comicamente a copiare dagli altri aspiranti agenti ma viene colto in flagrante e persino registrato dalle telecamere. I grandi capi della CIA hanno bisogno di sacrificare due agenti come decoys affinche' due veri agenti possano portare a compimento indisturbati un'importante missione. Austin e Emmett vengono scelti come decoys. Vengono addestrati in un campo segreto da un colonnello sadico e poi paracadutati in Pakistan. Fuggono in una jeep da due presunte spie russe che si fingono loro colleghi. Per salvarsi dai ribelli Pakistani, i due fingono di essere due medici che sono attesi con ansia da un gruppo di medici stranieri che comprende la bella Karen. Austin ed Emmett vengono invitati da Karen ad operare di appendicite il figlio del capo dei ribelli. Questi muore prima ancora che possano cominciare l'operazione e il capo furibondo li vuole morti. I due fuggono in un'ambulanza. Quando possono, telefonano alla CIA e chiedono cosa fare. I capi della CIA li spediscono verso il confine Sovietico, sempre per dirottare le attenzioni dei Sovietici cosicche' i veri agenti possano continuare la loro missione. Austin ed Emmett si travestono da pastori locali e continuano in autobus. Lungo la via incontrano di nuovo Karen in compagnia di uno dei "dottori" e Austin capisce che Karen e il "dottore" sono agenti come loro ("spies like us"). Emmett viene arrestato dalle guardie di frontiera e, per evitare la tortura, confessa di voler uccidere il presidente Sovietico. Austin invece si unisce a Karen, la quale ha appena sgominato un gruppo di Sovietici che pero` hanno ucciso il suo partner. Austin libera Emmett, grazie anche al fatto che Emmett tira una granade fortunosamente ai Sovietici e li fa saltare in aria. Karen rivela che loro due sono stati soltanto dei decoys e poi, con un discorso patriottico, li convince ad aiutarla nella vera missione. La vera missione e` di conquistare una base missilistica Sovietica in una zona remota di una foresta innevata. Karen e i due dilettanti assaltano i cinque soldati Sovietici di guardia, compresa una bella ragazza, e obbediscono agli ordini che ricevono dalla CIA. Il terzetto si rende conto troppo tardi che le istruzioni hanno causato il lancio di un missile atomico verso gli USA, ovvero che loro hanno appena dato inizio alla terza guerra mondiale. Le guardie Sovietiche sono stupefatte. L'intenzione dei capi e` quella di provare un sistema difensivo contro i missili Sovietici. Alla base segreta, un generale attiva il sistema difensivo che pero` sbaglia e non distrugge il missile Sovietico. Il raggio laser fallisce miseramente il razzo. Adesso sara` davvero guerra nucleare. Il generale non si scompone e, impedendo che venga avvertito il presidente dell'accaduto, lascia che il missile punti sulla sua nazione e scateni la guerra. Intanto il terzetto fraternizza con i loro prigionieri Sovietici, fra cui una bella ragazza. Essendo condannati a morte, Emmett convince Karen a fare l'amore, quattro dei cinque Sovietici si isolano per lo stesso scopo (due sono omosessuali) e Austin si ritrova fortunatamente con la Sovietica attraente. Pochi minuti dopo, pero`, Austin ha l'intuizione di come fermare il razzo. Con l'aiuto dei Sovietici, Austin riesce a far esplodere il razzo in orbita. Qualche tempo dopo Austin e Emmett sono incaricati di negoziare il futuro dell'Europa con una delegazione Sovietica composta dagli stessi cinque. Trading Places (1983) is a traditional comedy with stereotyped situations and an even more stereotyped plot. It is part screwball farce and part fairy tale, a distant cousin of Preston Sturges' Sullivan's Travels (1941). Louis Winthorpe (Dan Aykroyd) is a genius of the financial world who never makes a mistake and whose life is perfectly programmed, including the best possible fiance`, Penelope. He was raised in the aristocratic world and lived all his life in luxury. Billy Ray Valentine (Eddie Murphy) is a bum who pretends to be blind and crippled. He grew up in the streets. Billy accidentally bumps into Louis while walking out of his exclusive club and, thinking that Billy wants to steal his briefcase, calls the police and has the bum arrested. The brothers who run the financial empire, Duke & Duke, make a bet about what would happen if Louis and Billy traded places, in order to settle their outstanding argument about whether a genius comes from the genes or the environment. They arrange for Louis to get arrested for theft and drugs. Billy, on the other hand, is rescued from jail and given Louis's job and house. Expelled from the club, fired from the corporation, Billy throws parties with his old friends from the underworld but realizes that he doesn't belong with them anymore. Louis, in jail, abused and beaten, is finally rescued by Penelope, but a hooker, Ophelia (Jamie Lee Curtis), is paid to pretend she's his woman, and Penelope, in tears, leaves him. Louis asks Ophelia to help him out promising to lavish money on her, but he soon finds out that his butler does not let him in his own house, that his bank account and credit cards have been frozen, and that, basically, he is penniless. Luckily, the hooker has a sense of humour and a heart of gold, and gives him shelter. While Billy shows his skills as a financial agent, based on his knowledge of ordinary people, Louis struggles to make a living when he is rejected by even his best friends. Louis spots Billy at a dinner with the Dukes and plots revenge. Ophelia takes care of him like a child, half-believing his story. Billy discovers wrong-doing at the firm while Louis, in a Santa Clause suit, enters the office and tries to frame him. Louis fails and then runs away holding a gun and disrupting the firm's Christmas party. Billy has become a ruthless business man who feels no mercy for the poor Billy. The Dukes settle the bet in the restrooms, unaware that Billy is overhearing their conversation. Billy thus learns the truth about Louis, and that they will soon switch them again. Billy therefore decides to ally with Louis and get even with the Dukes, but Billy, drunk and desperate, has just attempted suicide in the bath tub. Louis takes him and Ophelia to his mansion, where he finally becomes himself again. Louis and Billy realize that together they can expose the Dukes' wrongdoing. They board the train where the Dukes' accomplice is traveling with top-secret documents, Billy dressed like an African tribesman, the butler dressed like a priest and the hooker dressed like a Swedish teenager. On the same train two zoo employees are transporting a gorilla, and in the bar car there is a fancy dress party. The business man figures out that they are trying to steal his documents, pulls out a gun and forces them all to the gorilla car. Helped by the gorilla, they succeed. Billy delivers the fake document to the Dukes and uses the real ones to invest the butler's and the hooker's savings. Billy has fallen in love with the hooker. They all get rich and move to the Caribeeans, while the Dukes are ruined.

Louis Winthorpe (Dan Aykroyd) e' un genio del mondo della finanza che non fa mai un errore, la cui vita e' perfettamante programmata, inclusa la miglior fidanzata possibile, Penelope. E' stato innalzato nel mondo aristocratico ed ha vissuto nel lusso tutto il tempo. Billy Ray Valentine (Eddie Murphy) e' un barbone che finge di essere cieco e zoppo. E' cresciuto nella strada. Billy si scontra accidentalmente con Louis mentre questi usciva dal suo club esclusivo e, pensando che Billy volesse rubargli la valigetta, chiama la polizia e fa arrestare il barbone. I fratelli che gestiscono l'impero finanziario Duke & Duke, fanno una scommessa riguardo a cosa succederebbe se Louis e Billy fossero scambiati di posto, per mettere fine alla loro irrisolta disputa circa le probabilita' che un genio venga dai geni biologici o dall'ambiente circostante. Si accordano per far arrestare Louis per furto e possesso di droga. Billy, al contrario, viene liberato dalla prigione e gli viene dato il lavoro e la casa di Louis. Espulso dal club, licenziato dalla societa', billy organizza dei parti coi suoi vecchi amici della malavita, ma capisce che non appartiene piu' a quel mondo. Louis, in prigione, maltrattato e picchiato, alla fine e' soccorso da Penelope, ma una prostituta, Ophelia (Jamie Lee Curtis), e' pagata per fingere di essere la sua donna e Penelope, in lacrime, lo lascia. Louis chiede a Ophelia di dargli una mano promettendo di compensarla lautamente, ma si accorge presto che il maggiordomo non lo lascia entrare in casa propria, che il suo conto bancario e' stato congelato cosi' come le sue carte di credito, e che, in pratica, e' senza un penny. Fortunatamente la prostituta ha il senso dell'umorismo e ha un cuore d'oro, e gli da' protezione. Mentre Billy mostra le sue capacita' come agente finanziario, basate sulla conoscenza della gente comune, Louis lotta per trovare un lavoro, quando e' rifiutato persino dai suoi migliori amici. Louis riconosce Billy che sta cenando insieme ai Dukes, e trama vendetta. Ophelia si prende cura di lui come fosse un bambino, credendo in parte alla sua storia. Billy scopre delle illegalita' all'interno della societa', mentre Louis, vestito da Babbo Natale, entra nell'ufficio e tenta d'incastrare Billy accusandolo. Ma fallisce, poi scappa con una pistola in pugno disturbando la festa di Natale della societa'. Billy e' diventato uno spietato uomo d'affari che non prova pieta' per il povero Billy. I Dukes regolano la fine della scommessa nella toilette, inconsapevoli che Billy stava casualmente ascoltando la loro conversazione. Cosi' capisce la verita' circa Louis, e che li scambieranno ancora. Billy decide allora di allearsi con Louis e vendicarsi dei Dukes, ma Billy, ubriaco e disperato, ha gia' tentato il suicidio nella vasca da bagno. Louis porta lui e Ophelia nella sua villa, dove finalmente torna di nuovo se stesso. Louis e Billy realizzano che insieme possono denunciare gli atti illegali dei Dukes. Prendono il treno dove il complice dei Dukes sta viaggiando con dei documenti top-secret. Billy, travestito da indigeno africano, il maggiordomo travestito da prete e la prostituta da adolescente svedese. Nello stesso treno due operai dello zoo trasportano un gorilla, e nel vagone-bar c'e' una festa in maschera. L'uomo d'affari indovina che stanno tentando di rubargli i documenti, tira fuori la pistola e li trascina nel vagone del gorilla. Aiutati dal gorilla, riescono nell'impresa. Billy consegna i falsi documenti ai Dukes e usa quelli veri per investire i risparmi del maggiordomo e della prostituta. Billy si e' innamorato della prostituta. Diventano tutti ricchi e si trasferiscono ai Caraibi, mentre i Dukes falliscono.

Into The Night (1984) is a romantic thriller that rehashes the stereotypical character of the middle-class faceless innocent abruptly adrift in a burst of disorder, danger and violence. Ed is a frustrated and insomniac engineer with a nice wife and a nice job, but little to cheer him up. Since he cannot sleep, one night he drives to the airport. There he witnesses the kidnapping of a beautiful girl. As she manages to escape, he takes her in his car and drives her to safety. The gangsters (Iranians), who have just killed her companion, get in their car and begin the chase. Diane begs Ed to drive her to a friend's place, but this friend, Larry, refuses to let her in. As they leave, the Iranians visit Larry and find him stripping in front ofkicked another girl. Ed takes Diane to her apartment, where they meet her brother, an Elvis Presley impersonator. Just when Ed is about to dump her and leave her to her destiny, the gangster arrives. Ed can't help give her another ride, this time to her friend Christie, an acress and dancer in a musical film. But, again, no luck. Diane confesses to Ed that she smuggled some diamonds into the country. At a hotel, a sinister stranger (Bowie) tries to kill Ed. Then they part, but Ed senses trouble and follows her in a luxury flat. She can't find her, but finds the body of a man stabbed in the breast. The man rises from the chair and charges towards the balcony, where the sinister stranger is holding a gun to Diane's head. As the stabbed man and his stabber fight, Ed and Diane manage to run out of the building. Downstairs, they meet the Iranians again and narrowly escape being captured. As Diane and Ed return to her apartment to find it turned upside down, the gangsters visit the villa where her best friend Christie is being romanced by the director. As they search the house, Christie runs away on the beach. Diane and Ed are kidnapped by a French man. He rides them in a limo to the villa, where Diane has left her jacket with the diamonds. However, Diane finds the police interrogating the director and asks a sheriff to walk her back to the limo. This way the French and his bodyguards have to let her take off in the limo. Ed still cannot sleep. They visit Diane's protector, Jack, who is paralyzed in bed, and Ed learns that this whole mess is due to a real estate deal that involves an Iranian woman. Jack suggests that Diane deals directly with the woman. While Ed walks into the woman's villa and offers half the diamonds, Diane hides the rest in a flower shop. Ed gets the money from the Iranian woman and rushes to the airport, where Diane is waiting for him to board a plane. They are already sitting in the plane when the pilot asks the passengers to disembark. Outside the Iranians are waiting for them. As the Iranians escort them out of the terminal, the Frenchman and his bodyguards spot them. As the French attack the Iranians, the police surrounds everybody. Ed and Diane are taken by the police to a motel room. An agent walks in with a bag full of money. It's a present from Jack. They are free. Finally, he can fall asleep. When he wakes up, she is gone. He thinks he has lost her, but she shows up again. A terrible ending and a very slow and confused plot.

(Translation by/ Tradotto da Laura Tittarelli) Into The Night (1984) e' un thriller romantico che rimescola i personaggi stereotipici della classe media, l'anonimo innocente improvvisamente travolto da un'esplosione di disordine, pericolo e violenza. Ed e' un ingegnere frustato ed insonne, con una bella moglie ed un buon lavoro. Questo pero' non basta a renderlo felice. Una notte, non riuscendo a dormire, guida fino all'areoporto, dove assiste al rapimento di una splendida ragazza che pero' riesce a fuggire. Lui la fa salire in macchina e la porta in salvo. I gangster (iraniani), che hanno appena ucciso l'uomo con cui lei viaggiava, saltano in macchina ed iniziano l'inseguimento. Diane prega Ed di portarla a casa di un amico, Larry, il quale pero' rifiuta di farla entrare. Cosi' se ne vanno, ed un attimo dopo gli iraniani fanno irruzione da Larry e lo trovano con una donna, intento in uno spogliarello. Ed accompagna Diane nell'appartamento del fratello di lei, un imitatore di Elvis Presley. Proprio nel momento in cui sta per salutarla e lasciarla al suo destino, ecco che ricompaiono i gangster. Ed non puo' rifiutarle un altro passaggio, questa volta dalla sua amica Christie, attrice e ballerina di un film musical. Diane non riesce a trovare ospitalita' neanche da lei. Alla fine confessa ad Ed di aver portato in America dei diamanti di contrabbando. In un hotel, uno sconosciuto dall'aspetto sinistro (Bowie) cerca di uccidere Ed. I due protagonisti poi! si separano, ma Ed ha la sensazione che lei sia nei guai, quindi la segue in un lussuoso appartamento. Non riesce a trovarla, ma vede invece il corpo di un uomo pugnalato al petto. L'uomo improvvisamente si alza dalla sedia e corre verso il balcone, dove lo sconosciuto dall'aspetto sinistro sta puntando una pistola alla testa di Diane. Mentre l'uomo pugnalato ed il suo aggressore lottano, Ed e Diane riescono a fuggire dal palazzo. All'ingresso si imbattono di nuovo negli iraniani, e per un soffio non vengono catturati. Decidono di ritornare all'appartamento del fratello di Diane, per scoprire che e' stato messo sottosopra. Intanto gli iraniani vanno alla villa dove Christie vive con il regista del musical, e mentre perquisiscono la casa Christie fugge sulla spiaggia. Diane e Ed vengono rapiti da un francese, il quale li porta in limousine alla stessa villa, luogo in cui Diane aveva lasc! iato la giacca che conteneva i diamanti. Diane trova la polizia che sta interrogando il regista, e chiede allo sceriffo di riaccompagnarla alla macchina. Cosi' facendo, il francese ed i suoi scagnozzi non possono fermare Ed e Diane, che ne approfittano per andarsene in limousine. Ed intanto soffre ancora di insonnia. I due vanno a far visita al "protettore" di Diane, Jack, che e' paralizzato e costretto a letto. Ed viene a sapere che l'intero intrigo in cui si trova coinvolto e' dovuto a degli interessi di proprieta' in cui e' coinvolta una donna iraniana. Jack suggerisce a Diane di trattare direttamente con questa donna. Cosi', mentre Ed entra nella villa della donna portandole la meta' dei diamanti, Diane nasconde il resto in un negozio di fiori. Ed prende i soldi dagli iraniani e corre all'areoporto, dove Diane lo aspetta per imbarcarsi su un aereo. Sono gia' seduti sulle poltroncine, ed ecco che! il pilota chiede ai passeggeri di scendere. A terra ci sono gli iraniani che li stanno aspettando. Li fanno uscire dal terminal, ma il francese ed i suoi scagnozzi li avvistano. Non appena i francesi attaccano gli iraniani, la polizia circonda tutti. Ed e Diane vengono portati dalla polizia in una stanza di motel. Un agente entra con una borsa piena di denaro. E' un regalo da parte di Jack. Sono liberi. Finalmente, Ed riesce ad addormentarsi. Quando si sveglia lei non c'e' piu'. Pensa di averla persa, ma eccola tornare. Orrendo finale, svolgimento lento e confuso.

Coming to America (1988) is a cross between a satire of the aristocracy and a romantic Cinderella-style fairy tale. Akim is the spoiled prince of an African kingdom, surrounded by servants and valets. There is even a sexy girl who every morning washes his penis. He is turning 21 and the traditiona of the kingdom is that he has to marry the future queen, whom his parents carefully selected. She was brought up to obey him in everything. Akim is already bored of that life and this is the last straw: he demands to be allowed to travel around the world for 40 days. He discusses with his valet where he should go. He shares his secret: he actually wants to find his queen, a woman whom he can really love. A flip of the coin picks New York and within New York they settle on Queens... which is actually a very poor neighborhood. When they arrive the valet is shocked by the poverty and filth, but the spoiled prince is actually delighted. They take a job as janitors in a restaurant run by a stern but good man, whose dream if that his daughter Lisa marries the son of a rich man. This boy and Lisa have been going out for a while. Akim falls in love with the girl but of course the girl hardly notices the poor African janitor. One day a gunman robs the restaurant and Akim uses his skills with sticks to disarm him. Lisa's father organizes an engagement party without even telling her and she resents it. Therefore she goes out with Akim, preferring the company of a poor African immigrant to the courtshipof her spoiled boyfriend. His valet meanwhile seduces Lisa's sister: when she sees that the poor apartment has actually been turned into a luxury condo, the valet tells her that he is a prince and Akim his valet. Akim, however, wants to be poor, and exchanges the apartment with the landlord's apartment, another rathole, and donates all the money to the homeless. Just then, alerted by the valet, the whole royal family arrives, escorted by maids who throw petals, chaffeurs, etc. The king is appalled to see where his son lives. He finds the restaurant's owner and reveals that Akim is a prince. The restaurant owner dumps the son of the rich man and now wants his daughter Lisa to date Akim. Lisa is still clueless and does not understand the change in behavior. Akim, realizing what is happening, runs out of the house to stop his parents. His parents instead arrive at the house looking for him and the king tells Lisa that Akim is bethroted to another woman. Lisa, devastated, walks out. When Akim returns, he finds out that his father just destroyed his love story. His mother instead sides with him and tells him to chase the girl. Akim drives around looking for Lisa. Meanwhile, Lisa's sister has learned that the valet is not the prince, just a valet. Akim finds Lisa in the subway but Lisa refuses his excuses. He apologizes for lying to her and explains that he wanted her to love him for who he is not for what he is. The entire subway car listens attentively. Lisa, however, is not convinced and leaves. Akim, devastated, accepts to fly back home and get married. His mother reproaches his father for not wanting to change the kingdom's traditions. The day of the wedding the bride walks towards Akim. When the veil is lifted, it's a surprise for Akim: it's Lisa. On the way out Lisa asks Akim whether he was really willing to give up the kingdom for her and he confirms. She looks around and decides to keep it. Three Amigos (1986) is a lame comedy set in Mexico. At the beginning of the 20th century, when cars and airplanes are novelties, Carmen is a woman of a village that is terrorized by bandits led by El Guapo. She walks into a saloon and asks if any of the men there would be willing to fight El Guapo. Nobody does. She walks into a church where a silent movie is being shown. The movie is about the "Three Amigos", three gunfighters who fight evil people for the sake of justice. She takes the movie as being a documentary and decides to write to them. She doesn't have enough money for a full telegram, so some words have to be removed from the telegram, and the message becomes ambiguous. Meanwhile, the three actors get fired from the Hollywood producer. When they receive Carmen's telegram, they take it as a chance to make money with their old show and set out for Mexico. A German aviator walks into the saloon of Carmen's town and terrorizes the patrons. He warns the crowd that friends of his will come and they are even more evil than him. When the three actors arrive, they are mistaken for the gangsters. The patrons treat them with respect and anxiety. When they leave the saloon, the German gangsters arrive. The patrons this time mock the newcomers. The gangsters kill a few of them in cold blood. Carmen is informed that the Three Amigos have arrived and she welcomes them. The whole village hopes that these three gunfighters can liberate them from El Guapo's gang. When three of El Guapo's goons show up, the Three Amigos improvise a musical show. The three goons are so surprised that they leave without hurting them; which convinces the villagers that the Three Amigos are indeed fearless gunfighters. Informed by his goons, El Guapo decides to descend on the village and kill the three clowns. The Three Amigos think again that this is just a show and improvise another mock gunfight with the bandits; except that this time the bandits shoot real bullets. One of the three, Lucky, is shot, and begs El Guapo to let the three cowards leave. El Guapo let them flee, then burns down the village and kidnaps Carmen. However, later one of the amigos, Ned, who is the idealist of the three, reasons that back in Hollywood they have no money and no job. Hence they might as well fight El Guapo. Lucky and Dusty reluctantly accept. The bandits are preparing to celebrate El Guapo's birthday. The Germans land their airplane near his hideout and deliver boxes of brand new guns. The amigos break into the compound, but Lucky is arrested, Ned gets stuck in the air among pinatas, and Dusty accidentally ends up in Carmen's room. The three amigos are inept but manage to escape with Carmen on the German's airplane and land in the village. The amigos convince the villagers that it's time to stand up to the bandits. The villagers sew Amigo costumes like military uniforms. They then confront the bandits and win, killing even El Guapo himself. Then the Three Amigos ride off into the sunset. He then directed some of the worst Hollywood movies of all time: Oscar (1991), a remake of a French film of 1967, the vampire movie Innocent Blood (1992), Beverly Hills Cop III (1994), The Stupids (1996), Blues Brothers 2000 (1998), Susan's Plan (1998) and, in England, Burke and Hare (2010)
