and father of director Rohan Sippy,
directed several scripts penned by the duo
Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar:
Andaz (1971),
Seeta Aur Geeta (1972),
his three-hour blockbuster Sholay/ Embers (1975), with music by Sachin Dev Burman (finally restored in 2025 in Italy with the original ending),
Shaan (1980), inspired by the "James Bond" movies, and
Shakti/ Power (1982), starring Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan.
