Garth
broadcast a weird TV show from Wayne's house (he still lives with his parents).
The wife of wealthy producer Benjamin is a fan of the show and so Benjamin decides to try to sell the show to an video arcade tycoon who is interested in sponsoring TV shows
Talking directly to the camera, Wayne gives us a tour of his milieu, friends and routines.
Wayne dreams of buying a very expensive guitar.
Wayne's buddy Garth is in love with a girl they see all the time in their favorite diner but he is too shy to approach her.
Wayne has dumped a girlfriend, Stacy, who doesn't want to give up, and soon Wayne falls in love with the singer of a rock band, Cassandra.
Benjamin and his friend Russell visit Wayne and his buddy and offer
to sign them up
for a little money but which for them is a lot of money.
Occasionally the weird duo talks directly to the camera.
Wayne takes yuppie producer Ben to the nightclub and Ben gets impressed by the same Cassandra.
Ben tries to pick her up, offering a tv show for her band, but she's skeptic and ignores him.
On the other hand
Cassandra
immediately befriends loser Wayne, who is permanently stalked his ex-girlfriend Stacy.
Cassandra is impressed that Wayne can speak Cantonese (he learned it to impress her), while Stacy keeps trying to get his attention.
Wayne uses Ben's money to buy his dream guitar in front of Cassandra.
Instead, Wayne's long-haired friend Garth dreams of becoming a drummer.
Wayne and Garth don't want to publicize the videogame arcade but they actually publicize just about every other brand.
Wayne and Garth take Cassandra to their favorite joint.
Wayne's buddy is again too shy to talk to his dream girl.
Wayne and Cassandra make love.
Wayne, Garth and Cassandra visit Ben at his high-rise flat with gorgeous view of the city.
Ben clearly tries to impress Cassandra and Wayne's buddy Garth senses the danger, but Wayne is clueless.
Ben gives tickets for a rock concert to Wayne and Garth so that he can be alone with Cassandra.
Ben too has learned to speak Cantonese in order to impress her.
The first shooting of the show is a disaster: Wayne humiliates the sponsor and Ben fires him.
Garth tries to warn Wayne about Cassandra and Ben, but Ben doesn't listen, and they have their first argument.
Cassandra tells Wayne that she has to work with Ben for a few days.
Finally, Wayne gets jealous and Cassandra kicks him out.
Wayne tells the camera that he lost his best friend and his girlfriend in one day. Wayne apologizes to his best friend and they are friends again.
Wayne wants to fight Ben by introducing Cassandra to a powerful music executive.
Garth offers to help with the technicalities and all of their friends, including a cop, offer to help.
Wayne interrupts the shooting of Cassandra's music video and convinces her to go back with him.
Meanwhile Garth and the other friends crawl into Ben's studio and steal stuff and even convince Russell to join their sabotage operation.
Their cop friend stops Ben who is chasing Wayne and Cassandra.
Garth manages to project Cassandra's performance in the limo of the executive, but he doesn't sign her up. Cassandra gets angry at Wayne and returns to Ben and moves to the Caribbeans with him while Stacy walks in to tell Wayne that she's pregnant and an accident causes Wayne's studio to go up in flames...
Or not: the movie rewinds and the executive signs Cassandra,
Cassandra kisses Wayne, and Garth gets his dream girl.
Then came
The Beverly Hillbillies (1993),
The Little Rascals (1994) and
Black Sheep (1996).
Senseless (1998) was one of her best.
Then came the horrible
The Kid and I (2005) and
Balls to the Wall (2011).
