Bay Area's guitarist Calvin Keys (1943) explored pop-jazz-soul hybrids on Shawn Neeq (1971), performed by a quintet with piano and flute, and Proceed with Caution (Black Jazz, 1974), featuring percussionist Leon “Ndugu” Chancler and pianist Kirk Lightsey.
