The organist of the 45 Grave, Paul Roessler, took part in D.C.3., formed in 1984 by Dez Cadena (formerly of Black Flag). The group established a revival of the more gothic hard rock (Black Sabbath, Blue yster Cult), in the spirit of a pregrunge sound. In both groups Roessler displayed a strong and original personality, though without finding the space to fully express it.
In 1987 an album credited to Twisted Roots was released (for CD Presents), in reality composed by Roessler and performed with the help of Dez Cadena (ex-Black Flag) and Jeff Dahl. After that melodic exploit, Roessler surprised in 1988 with an instrumental album, Abominable (April 1988 SST), among the most original of the decade, roaming between film music, flash rock, surf, and jazz. Under the pseudonym Crimony (with Mike Watt of fIREHOSE on bass) the organist recorded a single, Reverence (1986), and an EP, Crimony (New Alliance, 1988), completely different, once again inspired by the gothic style of 45 Grave.

Curator (2003) is a compilation of
Roessler's private recordings of the 1990s.
He then recorded
the rock opera Burnt Church (2004), a collaboration with vocalist Jeff Parker (not the guitarist of Tortoise).
Roessler returned after a long hiatus with The Arc (2013) and 6/12 (2013).
