The Boneshakers serve a no-nonsense fusion of funk, soul, blues and rock. Guitarist and songwriter Randy Jacobs and vocalist Sweet Pea Atkinson played in Was (Not Was) and later helped became staples of Detroit's recording studios. Book of Spells (Pointblank, 1997) was their debut album.

The propulsive Hand Over Fist and the thunderous Ball And Chain are the standout tracks of Shake the Planet (Virgin, 1998).
