Maryland-native Toni Braxton was discovered by the production duo of L.A. Reid and Babyface, who turned her debut album, Toni Braxton (1993), containing Another Sad Love Song, Breathe Again, You Mean the World to Me, into a massive hit. Secrets (1996), containing You're Makin' Me High and her signature ballad Un-break My Heart (composed by Diane Warren), was another massive seller. But then Braxton parted way with the team that had created her, and Heat (2000) showed it.

The public quickly lost interested in her, and More Than A Woman (2002), Libra (2005) and Pulse (2010) marked a steady decline of sales.

Love, Marriage & Divorce (2014), a concept about marriage, was a collaboration between Toni Braxton and producer Babyface (Kenneth Edmonds).
