New York singer songwriter Lisa Loeb was the first artist ever to top the US charts before even being signed by a label. Stay (1994) steals the show also on Tails (Geffen, 1995), despite a few catchy refrains (Waiting For Wednesday), some baroque arrangements (It's Over, Hurricane)) and an occasional rock'n'roll romp (Alone).

Firecracker (Geffen, 1997) is a bland album of bubblegum music for carefree teenagers (I Do, Truthfully). The notable exception is Falling In Love, an example of ambitious storytelling.

Cake And Pie (A&M, 2002) is, de facto, a collaboration with her boyfriend Dweezil Zappa.

The Way It Really Is (Zoe, 2004) is generic singer-songwriter fare, so casual that it seems meant for internal consumption at a party of friends.
