Miss Alans were a band from Fresno (California) that played folk-rock in the REM vein. Smack The Horse (Genius, 1990) and the live All Hail Discordia (Duck Butter, 1991) have little to commend themselves for, and Blusher (Zoo, 1994) stretches itself thin with its shoegazing ambitions, succeeding more easily in the fragile tapestry of Mag Wheel. Ledger (World Domination, 1996) suddenly veered towards Jesus And Mary Chain's feedback pop and yielded their best songs: Candy Apple and Poor Eyes.
