Pulsars are the project of Chicago singer, keyboardist, guitarist and producer
Dave Trumfio, with brother Harry Trumfio on percussions.
Silicon Teens (Sweet Pea, 1995) is the disco-rock single that launched
Pulsars' revival of synth-pop
(New Order's driving beats,
Depeche Mode's soulful arrangements).
The EP
Submission To The Master/ Owed To A Devil/ Das Lifeboat (Almo, 1997)
nods both to the Cars' polished productions and
to Echo & The Bunnymen's lush orchestrations.
The album Pulsars (Almo Sounds, 1997) mainly collects the singles.
The duo was a short-lived novelty that collapsed under the weight of its
derivative tricks.
