Like many Canadians before them, Chixdiggit learned to play rock ’n’ roll by listening to Guess Who and BTO. Like many before them, they moved to the U.S. West Coast. But, like few before them, they managed to set the era’s punk-pop on fire. They were first revealed by the single Best Hung Carrot In The Fridge (Lance Rock).

Fueled by the guitars of Jansen and Mark O’Flaherty, the sound of Chixdiggit (SubPop, 1996) recaptures the exuberance of the Sex Pistols and the Heartbreakers without a trace of their nervous depressions. The breathless choruses of Great Legs, Stacked Like That, and 323 rivaled those of Green Day and the Offspring.

Their specialty on Born on the First of July (Honest Don, 1998), From Scene to Shining Scene (2000), Pink Razors (Fat Wreck, 2005) and Safeways Here We Come (2011) was still high-quality punk-pop.
