A winding path has taken Ocean Colour Scene from the psychedelic pop of the singles Sway (1990), Yesterday Today (1991), Giving It All Away (1992) and Do Yourself A Favor (1992), and from the namesake album of 1992 to the mature sound of Moseley Shoals (MCA, 1996), where one can enjoy again (cleaned up of excessive overtones and reviewed in the retro style of Jam) the blues, soul and funky moves of the Rolling Stones. Simon Fowler (vocals), Steve Cradock (guitar), Damon Minchella (bass) and Oscar Harrison (drums) made up a respectable line-up. The singles were: The Day We Caught The Train, The Riverboat Song, The Circle and You've Got It Bad, but more interesting is the jam Get Away. The album turned them into stars.

Hundred Mile High City and Travellers Tune were the singles off Marchin' Already (MCA, 1997). The album's sound is more ethereal and psychedelic.

As they aged, the Ocean Colour Scene seemed to become more and more a "retro" act. Despite an impeccable production, Mechanical Wonder (MCA, 2001) is a nostalgic tribute to the "mod" civilization of the Sixties (Small Faces, Who). Give Me A Letter and Up On The Downside are the ultimate dejavu.

A Hyperactive Workout For The Flying Squad (Sanctuary, 2005) is one boring survey of their cliches, from Free My Name to God's World.

They still released: On the Leyline (2007), Saturday (2010), and Painting (2013).
