The Croatian trio Transmisia perhaps marks the moment when Eastern European groups abandon experimentation and plunge into the fray of the grim sounds of the 1990s. Mincing Machine (Invisible, 1991), which includes the first single Skinney Goose, and Dumbshow (Invisible, 1994) are artifacts of a sound that is more rock than industrial, a kind of music that vomits violence and terror.
On the second album, the standout tracks include Why This Life, an angry anthem for a population of rats living among garbage, Dumbshow, entangled in extremely harsh harmonic fractures, the most metallurgical piece Hard, and the most metal-oriented track Crack Of Doom.
Mick Harris and Eraldo Bernocchi remixed the group's material on
Frigid Prose (Wide, 1997 - Invisible, 2001) and obtained one of their
elegant catalogs of
industrial dub cliches.
