Ashera is Australian electronic sound-sculptor Anthony Wright, a faithful
disciple of the
celestial ambient music of Harold Budd
who had debuted with Cobalt 144 (Cdaw, 1999).
Colour Glow (Cdaw, 2000) contains eleven peaceful, enchanted excursions
in heaven.
Peace One and
Savannah Mirage evoke the cosmic couriers of new-age music, but
the 13-minute Colour Glow, with floating angelic female vocals
lulled in fluid mellow drones, stands as his artistic manifesto.
The music almost implodes in the extreme quiet of As Always.
The shorter pieces feel like ideas for longer ones that were not brought to fruition.
We Gaia (Cdaw, 2000) and
Enviro (2003)
continued the journey.
