Among the many albums of solo guitar that surfaced in the 2000s,
Matt Baldwin's
Paths Of Ignition (2008) represented the spirit of the Bay Area,
as far from Appalachian folk as possible, with two lengthy covers that
paid tribute to German progressive rock and to heavy metal.
Imaginary Psychology (2010) contains two of his most metaphysical
pieces, Lindsay And Her Duplicates and Imaginary Psychology.
The double-LP Night In The Triangle packed all sorts of experiments
that reinforced the impression of a pupil of the 1970s.
Year Of The Dog (2011) and
Dream Stills (Psychic Arts, 2012) were collaborations with
singer-songwriter Nico Georis.
Baldwin adopted the moniker Cryptic Cross (Psychic Arts, 2012) to play
lo-fi garage-rock.
