New Orleans' psychedelic combo Chef Menteur debuted with the tentative
songs, freakouts and jams of
We Await Silent Tristero's Empire (2005) and The Answer's In Forgetting (2007).
East Of The Sun & West Of The Moon (Backporch Revolution, 2012) is
emblematic of their artistic palette:
trivial space-rock rave-ups (Narconaut) and hypnotic loose jams that
sometimes hold together
(the melodramatic 19-minute Ganymede) and sometimes don't
(the fragile incoherent eleven-minute Oxen Of The Sun).
