Daddy Yankee

Puerto Rican rapper and singer Ramon "Daddy Yankee" Rodriguez was introduced by Pedro "DJ Playero" Torruelas' cassette 37 (1994) and debuted solo with No Mercy (1995). He became a leader of the second wave of reggaeton years later, with El Cangri.com (2002) and especially the hit Gasolina (2004), off his album Barrio Fino (2004), which in turn became the top-selling Latin music album of the decade (it also contains Lo Que Paso' Paso' and Machucando). Another hit was Rompe (2005). El Cartel III - The Big Boss (2007), with Impacto, and the film soundtrack Talento de Barrio (2008), with Pose and Llamado de Emergencia, were the albums that established his mature style. After the very popular Mundial (2010), with Grito Mundial, La Despedida and Descontrol, and Prestige (2012), with Lovumba, Limbo and Ven Conmigo, his stardom was further consolidated by Despacito (2017), a duet with singer Luis Fonsi, the first Spanish-language song to top the Billboard charts since Macarena. Legendaddy (2022) contains Rumbaton, Enchuletiao and the Bad Bunny collaboration X Última Vez.
