Portland's space-rockers Eternal Tapestry, influenced by
Jackie-O Mothefucker,
crafted lengthy abstract jams on
Altar Of Grass (2007 - Hyperblasted Recordings, 2010),
Mystic Induction (2007), containing
Emerald Forest Of Peace (20:28) and
Transcendence (20:17),
Palace of The Night Skies (Three Lobed, 2009),
and, pared down to a trio, the unusually fragmented
The Invisible Landscape (Not Not Fun, 2009).
Night Gallery (Thrill Jockey, 2011)
documents a live jam between Sun Araw's Cameron Stallones and Eternal Tapestry.
Beyond The 4th Door (Thrill Jockey, 2011) tried too hard to
summarize their fortes, but it succeeded at least in the lengthy
Reflections In A Mirage and Time Winds Through A Glass Clearly.
A member of Eternal Tapestry, Nicholas Bindeman, also launched the project
Tunnels. The Blackout (Thrill Jockey, 2011) is devoted to trivial
synth-pop (Crystal Arms) and poor imitations of the new wave of the 1970s.
Dawn In 2 Dimensions (Thrill Jockey, 2012) was a reaction to
Beyond The 4th Door's brooding metaphysical mood, and therefore marked
a return to some earthly space-rock; but it sounds like a collage of leftovers.
A World Out Of Time (Thrill Jockey, 2012) was amateurish and derivative
of vintage acid-rock, despite adding a saxophone to
twelve-minute When I Was in Your Mind.
