Deidre LaCarte created one of dance music's greatest songs by speeding up and looping a sample from Roger Miller’s "Whistle Stop" from the animated movie Robin Hood (1973). She used it as the soundtrack for a simple video of dancing rodents on her webpage, The Hampster Dance (1998).

In 2001 the Canadian djs Boomtang Boys (Tony Grace, Paul Grace and Rob DeBoer) remixed it and turned it into a worldwide hit song, Hampsterdance Song (2000), credited to Hampton the Hampster, and contained in the album The Hampsterdance Album.

Paul Grace died in 2019.
