English singer-songwriter Helena Costas debuted under the moniker
Joker's Daughter with
The Last Laugh (Team Love, 2009), de facto a collaboration with
hip-hop producer Danger Mouse (and Italian string arranger Daniele Luppi), a
parade of graceful medieval-style madrigals and pastoral folk lullabies
that evoke Donovan without the hippy overtones.
The highlight, however, might be the instrumental Chasing Ticking Crocodile.
