Oddjobs was a white hip-hop group from Minnesota
(producers Stephen "Anatomy" Lewis
and Devon "DJ Deetalx" Callahan with rappers
Alexei "Crescent Moon" Casselle,
Adam "Advizer" Waytz and
Mario "Nomi" Demira), an emanation of the collective
CMI (Cases Of Mistaken Identity) that included
graffiti writers and break dancers.
In 1999 Advizer and Deetalx moved to New York to attend school.
Nonetheless the group released the albums
Conflict and Compromise (1999),
Drums (2001), which contains their underground hit Blue Collar Holler, and
Expose Negative (2005), produced by Deetalx without Anatomy.
After the group broke up,
Advizer pursued an academic career at the University of Chicago,
Nomi and DJ Deetalx formed Power Struggle that released Arson At The Petting Factory (2005),
while Anatomy (a buff of jazz music) and Crescent Moon formed Kill the Vulture that debuted with the albums
Kill the Vulture (2005), in a vein that
wed punk, jazz and hip-hop,
and
The Careless Flame (2006). The jazz influence was stronger on the
six-song EP Midnight Pine (2007).
They were still a duo on Ecce Beast (2009)
and
Carnelian (2015).
