Canada's death-metal combo Antediluvian debuted with the rather awful Through the Cervix of Hawaah (2011). Their idea of extreme, dissonant and damaged music was better presented on Logos (2012), but The Divine Punishment (2021) veered towards a more mature sound. The best manifestation of their demonic noise happens in All Along the Sigils Deep and in the nine-minute closer Winged Ascent Unto the Twelve Runed Solar Anus, while the real highlight is the ten-minute suite Obscene Pornography Manifests in the Divine Universal Consciousness, an elegant appendix to the post-metal of the 1990s. Alas, the pomp of How the Watchers Granted the Humans Sex Magick in the Primordial Aeon sounds a bit childish and the sexual obsessions of songs like Temple Prostitute are not terribly interesting.
