Los Angeles resident and
Pennsylvania native Sabrina Carpenter, already a TV sitcom actress, transitioned from the bedroom-pop of
Eyes Wide Open (2015) to the catchy Abba-esque dance-pop of
Evolution (2016), Singular Act I (2018), with Almost Love and Sue Me, and Singular Act II (2019).
She became a star with
Emails I Can't Send (2022), which spawned the hits Nonsense (produced by Julian Bunetta) and Taste (co-written with songwriters Julia Michaels and Amy Allen, and produced by Ryan, Bunetta and Ian Kirkpatrick) and (on the 2023 reissue) Feather (produced by John Ryan);
followed by
Short n' Sweet (2024), with Bunetta's Espresso
and Jack Antonoff's Please Please Please, and by Man's Best Friend (2025), with Antonoff's Manchild.
